Another best way of learning is buying Adobe’s classroom in a book series book. It not only has footage but start you up in right direction.

Google Adobe Premiere/AE Classroom in a Book and you can get some good deals on the Internet…

Is is Penny or Adobe? When I had this question to penny guy @NAB, he was saying that Adobe is the one who is dropping the ball…

  • For three-five years nothing should go wrong with drive. However if you planning longer then should invest in Tape based backup solution that are going to be considerable more costly. Event that will have problems after 8-10 years.

The only proven medium for 70+ years is yes the FILM… but out of our leage.

From my experience if it’s P2/Docpro/50/HD or HDV stay away from Adobe. After deciding to switch to Avid media composer(software only) I’ve been very happy. Although initially it was little harder to get use to Avid software interface, now nothing is going to convince me otherwise.
Before buying check out link from Panasonic’s any P2 camcorder support and resources site, which talks about the P2 workflow with different softwares, then decide which will work best for you.

That’s PPro. It doesn’t support any of the DVCPro50/HD format. If you are considering a uncompressed capture card for DVCPro, then be sure to check it out before buying it. Make sure it does what you expect it to do with PPro.

    Thanks!
This is great info! So with this Data rate I would stick to Raid6.

Are we talking about 275MB/s sustained, which will require at least 20% headroom, or around 315MB/s? (for 12-bit 4:4:4)

Please post a link, I would love to get my hand on something like this!

    Thanks

I’ve had yet to see an affordable (unless you are talking about dual Fiber Optic types) Raid config that can deliver uncompressed full HD in other then Raid0.

Yes there are solutions are available for lots of $$$$$$… but can you afford them??? Simply back up your files to external/Tape drives. Remember you don’t need sustain data rate for back up/restore, and still be cheaper in case one of your drive crash.

Yes drives do crash, just like any other electronics equipment, but you have to plan for worst and hope for best! There are always trade-offs and you go with the best solution you can afford/works for you.

I believe it happens when you are missing the necessary video decompressor(codec). Try to install the free P2 Viewer from panasonic and see if it helps.
