After spending the money, time to learn and based on my experience I would NOT recommand Glidecam 4000 to any one.
Stick to proven one or built your own for lot cheaper. -
Best thing to do is wait(if you can…) until software is optimized for better utilization of CPU. You will get better price/bang as Intel drops prices almost every quater.
If you can’t wait then get the most advance one you can afford, so you will be future proof for next 1-2 yrs. -
In my experience, unless you can’t live without multi-cam editing capability, it’s NOT worth the money!!.. I would wait for what’s they have to offer in next ver…

February 26, 2007 at 10:50 pm in reply to: Frustrated with my NLE, looking for other options for my P2 workflowThere may be nothing wrong with your machine. In order for you to see the performence difference your software must be able to utilize CPU and when it comes to PPRO it’s very poor(I don’t believe it’s optimized for multicore, and the if it’s Adobe PRPO-don’t hold your breath to fix any time soon..). Also remember that your slowest part is disk I/O which is going to slow you down no matter how fast your CPU/Mem is.
The simple test to see your system is performing do some MPEG2 encoding using encoder that uses true multi threding like Cinemacraft SP.
Or switch to Avid or Sony products. -
Joe thank you for your suggestion…
One interesting thing: when I burned DVD folder and played on PC the menu behaved like mention by Joe(delayed highlight). However in the ENCORE preview it shows highlights from begining when repreated. Is this a bug with encore dvd preview or something else??? -
That was my understanding. Even with the setting loop to none and setting end action of the menu to Link Back to Here, it’s OK 1st time and when menu repeats, the button highlight is visible from begining of the menu instead of the Loop Point timecode.
Am I missing some thing. -

How about Avid/PPro 2.0 on PC side? Has any one tried it?
My concern with 8gb card is if there enough free time for assistance to dump the 8 GB card before two cards on camera are filled?

AS a long time premiere loyalist, It’s a big disappointment that ver 2.0 doesn’t support P2, DVCPro50/100 natively. I was really hoping that Adobe would give us some clear indication instead of marketing gimic like ver 2.0…
I am seriously considering switching to Avid as I can’t wait any more for adobe premiere team. Better late then sorry!!!
Those who are starting out, Please start with AVid or FCP which are much better in term of the pro feature, media mangement and finding a paying job as editor!
The only power we have is to where spend our money, and if Adobe don’t listen, we rather spend it where you get the biggest bang for it!!!!…
