November 28, 2006 at 10:59 pm in reply to: Video plays back dark when imported from SW to Media100iOK, I went ahead and got Producer and happily and thankfully its color range adjustment made the exports via Quicktime show up properly and only take 4 minutes to import. Using the media 100 HD uncompressed gave good quality too. Thanks for the tips Floh!

This should give better quality (no recompression), it should be faster and it should not change the color/levels.”
OK but the import into Media 100i takes more than an hour…

I export as a quicktime file with the media 100i codec.
I bet Producer is the answer…maybe it handles “color range” better ;->
Thanks once again Floh

Thanks for the tip about booting to a striped drive – I’ll check it out. Seems like I’ve heard that the target disk is the system disk also, so striped may not work as a target disk if it can’t be the system disk.

I started getting this same problem right after installing quicktime pro 7.1.2 and WMV-9. Reinstalled cleaner- no change. reinstalled m100 software codecs – no change
osx 3.9 on g4 500 dual – m100i 8.1.1 just happens to be installed on the mac but I use a different mac with m100i 8.2.3 for I/O and SW for editing.

Oh Yeah reference movie works just fine back into M100i
but I have cleaner on another mac and for security reasons I have to export the qt movie.HB

I use SW and i with a G4 dual 500 OS 10.3.9
-Download and install the Media 100 software codecs
-When you finish editing in SW, export from edit suite
use export to “other” >Quicktime Movie.-on movie settings use:
video – settings- Media 100 NTSC 720, Best quality, 29.97 Fps, Limit Data rate as high as your system can handleuncheck prepare for internet streaming
hit OK then hit export
-import the movie into Media100i
Works for me for about a year or so.

Really,
I just thought that perhaps since FCP has the abillity to look at processor speed and adjust real time playback that SW on a G5 could do so as well. Of course they are different softwares but I think it’s the same principle and maybe the velocity engine would be the common key.
