Please, Mr Edit Doctor, could you send those filters to me too? I’d be most grateful if you have the time.

I created a timeline with all my little single frames that I wanted to export and print (frame enlargements, right?). I went into motion and distorted the first still by -33%. Then I copied that attribute to all the others.

I then exported that as a Quicktime stills sequence to JPEG or whatever and — BANG — suddenly loads of little JPEGS appeared on my desktop.

By the way, I raised the density levels somewhat prior to export.

    Worked fine for me.

The previous poster is correct. But, to be precise:

    1. Double click on the shot in the timeline you want to mess about with.

    2. See the little box called “Viewer”

    3. Go to the tab called “Motion”

    4. Click on “Basic motion” – it opens and you will see “scale”. Try messing with that …

    5. Click on “Disort” and then mess with the “Aspect ratio” slider.

    Voila!.

I apologise if this seems to be baby language, but when someone is explaining something to me I prefer to be treated like an idiot child myself.

It sounds like a lot, but that’s because I’ve been so specific about settings. In fact it’s a two step process: 1. Capture and 2. Convert.

I have a workflow for you if you have a card of some sort. It’s in fact written for the Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro card and uses MPEG Streamclip. I’ve been using this an an indie film for 6 months now.

    Here it is:

I have been struggling with FCP capture of 24f Canon footage and, due to enormous help from people on various bulletin boards such as Barlow Elton and Greg Huson, have now got a workflow for which I have sweated blood.

I am using a Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro and Mac G5 dual 2 gig.

It’s a bit wierd, but here goes:

    1. SDI from camera to B/M card. (By the way, that

I have two 1TB G-Raids which have been working for about nine months with no problems.

    They were about $1k each.

Diskwarrior usually gets me out of trouble. It completely rebuilds the directory. Maybe this is what you need. About $75.

    Best wishes in your agony

  • I think that this problem comes from how you used MPEG Streamclip.

    Try this:

Open your clip in MPEG Strea, clip.
    Go to the clip start.
Going frame by frame, find a piece of material that has movement. You will probably now better see the “comb effect” to which you refer. You might find, for instance, that there are two “combed” frames, followed by three normal frames. These combed frames are interlaced frames.

Move forward frame by frame until you get to the end of two interlaced frames and the start of the three normal frames.

    Hit “i” (in point)

Now, click in the that box on the screen called “deinterlace”.

    Make your movie.

If there are still interlaced frames present when you have done this, then you should try a slightly different “i” point.

    This should work.

    Best

    Harry.
