Since I upgraded to 5.1.2 I can’t use my Boris Continuum filters till I upgrade those, so in the meantime, anybody have a single plug or trick to make type glow?

I have Joe’s filters, and I tried putting color glow on some Boris Title 3D text, but it didn’t seem to do anything. Chroma glow from Eureka! get’s close, but I have to apply at least two instances of it to get what I want, and it still falls short for me. There’s standard glow plug clled overdrive that’s completely wrong.

I want the glow to appear blown out and then fade to leave the text, so it’s sorta like a transition except it’s outta black. That mean’s what I use has to be keyframable. Not sure that a flash-type transition would do what I want, but I do have Eureka! flash cross.

I’ve tried this in Live Type with standard glow effects, but I find it hard to tweek the presets keyframes. Any suggestions there?

    Anything else out there?

    Chris

download the free 15 day demo of FxFactory from Noise Industries

    https://www.noiseindustries.com/

They have a blowout filter which will blow everything out to white! and of course it is all ‘keyframeable’

You can do standard glows with the Apple outline text generator or the regular text generator and a shadow with 0 offset. Change the shadow color, keyframe the opacity, use different modes to apply over text. Usually stuff like multiply, hard light, etc.

Maybe, but its not going to blow the thing out.

Yeah, it will. Just have to blow out the glow (line softness) and have a basic understanding of composite modes. Use Apple’s glow text generator for some truly good blown out glows, and use the ADD composite mode to have the blown out text interact with your video for an even more realistic effect. If yoiu need the glow to be infront of the text as well, you can use a duplicate layer, with glow on the front layer, and glowless text on background layer.

Ahhhh, the good ol days before plugins… or not.

    Bret,

Good ideas, I suppose I could do that on Title 3D text as well.

    Thanks also Peter!

Eureka has a free plug called Vapor Across that will, I think do what you describe.

    Chris,

You may want to look at Motion rather than Livetype… I hate me some Livetype. Motion’s text behaviors are much more controllable than Livetype effects.

I don’t find Title 3D that easy to do a glow myself. Never can seem to get the settings the way I like. But yeah. I was thinking you said Boris wasn’t working, but you meant Continum. Title 3D should work. Continum as well from what I’ve read.

Could you possibly give me a web address for Eureka?

    Many thanks,
