  • Lost Media – Urgent help required to recover

Posted by Sentamills on September 13, 2006 at 3:54 pm

Heartbreaking & dumbfounding news – Media has mysteriously vanished from my Lacie Big Disk. I have about 15GB of media, mostly Hi-Def & mini-dv video files, saved in a folder in one of 4 partitions to my 500GB drive. All of this media vanished whilst in transit from home to offices. Whilst the media is gone, and no searches by file name are tracing it, the partition is showing no change in GB usage – the capacity has remained the same. I’m presuming therefore that the media is still in the drive somewhere. I urgently need to recover this, and was wondering if ANYONE CAN HELP – are there any means to recover these files without sending the drive back to Lacie?

    Yours desperately,

Google “Drivesavers”. It’s not cheap, so prepare for the bad news.

If it’s only 15 GB, I think you should just recapture the media, that is,
after you get a new and more reliable drive.

I know how you feel. I lost the contents of an 80 GB FireWire drive
when transporting it on a plane. Nowadays, I leave my FW drives
in a stationary, cool place. Transporting drives is a lot more dangerous
    than you think.

Diskwarrior usually gets me out of trouble. It completely rebuilds the directory. Maybe this is what you need. About $75.

    Best wishes in your agony
