With FCP 5.1.2 the Broadcast Safe filter was fixed…at least for me. Others state that it was never broken, others side with me. But, now it works.

What do I do? Use the 3-way color corrector and color correct shot by shot. Then throw that filter on at the end to just be sure.

    That’s good to know…..

What do you do about FCP text? We have a lot of FCP title tool text that is white with a black drop shadow. Even when we put the broadcast filter on these, the Range Check symbol still says these titles are not broadcast safe.

    Thanks

I use Title 3D, the one under the BORIS menu. And I set my white text to about 85%.

[Adrian Zehn] “Research indicates that the FCP Broadcast Safe filter doesn’t work”

We have no issues at all with the Broadcast Safe Filter, but know that it only legalizes Luma, not Chroma. I adjust chroma for each shot as I grade it.

    Hi Walter….

Thanks for this……now the manual claims the filter will fix the chroma as well….are you saying this doesn’t work properly?

Please, Mr Edit Doctor, could you send those filters to me too? I’d be most grateful if you have the time.
