Broadcast legal levels…..
Posted by Adrian Zehn on February 20, 2007 at 12:21 amHi,
Another issue I have been dealing with is how to make the DVCProHD sequence luma and chroma levels broadcast legal….
Research indicates that the FCP Broadcast Safe filter doesn’t work……does anyone have experience with the 1z1 filter? (https://www.1z1.at/plugins/#mastering)? What workflows are people using to make their FCP DVCProHD sequences broadcast legal?
Thanks

February 20, 2007 at 12:25 amWith FCP 5.1.2 the Broadcast Safe filter was fixed…at least for me. Others state that it was never broken, others side with me. But, now it works.
What do I do? Use the 3-way color corrector and color correct shot by shot. Then throw that filter on at the end to just be sure.

February 20, 2007 at 1:05 amThat’s good to know…..
What do you do about FCP text? We have a lot of FCP title tool text that is white with a black drop shadow. Even when we put the broadcast filter on these, the Range Check symbol still says these titles are not broadcast safe.
Thanks

February 20, 2007 at 1:13 amI use Title 3D, the one under the BORIS menu. And I set my white text to about 85%.

We have no issues at all with the Broadcast Safe Filter, but know that it only legalizes Luma, not Chroma. I adjust chroma for each shot as I grade it.

Thanks for this……now the manual claims the filter will fix the chroma as well….are you saying this doesn’t work properly?
