Can’t answer the graphics card issue, but why would you use a 3 disk raid array for your system disk? Seems dangerous and unneeded. Better to use one for OS and add another raid of the remaining 2 disks for preview’s and scratch.

You are importing material not suitable for editing, then you edit and then you need to recompress for export. The classic case of garbage in, (even worse) garbage out.
To avoid deteriorating quality any more than necessary, import into Encore and just razor the file. Editing is not feasible, IMO.

For 5.1 you need to encode to AC3. Audition does not do that. Export the 5.1 track from Premiere with the Minnetonka Surcode encoder.

Dump the Storm, convert the AVI’s to MS-DV AVI type 2 and you are ready to roll.

I have 4 different brands of standalones (Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Daewoo) and none can handle WMV, all can handle MPEG.

WMV9 AFAIK does not encode to 5.1 sound. Minnetonka is the only way that I know to create 5.1 sound.

And in addition to what Blast1 said, keep away from MPEG formats. They are not suitable to editing, just for delivery.

Get real. Intel leaves the AMD’s way behind in the dust. As for stable, where do you get that idea? I suggest you do some reading, instead of coming with unfounded claims, that are not correct in the current time.
