Don’t de-interlace. You’ll be throwing away 50% of the vertical resolution if you do.

24p is typically NTSC NDF, 25p is PAL and 23.97p is NTSC DF. Keep the framerate exactly as you shot with the camera, so 24p from capture to export if NTSC, and 25p if PAL. Avoid conversions.

You shot NTSC, you edited PAL and you exported NTSC. Why? That likely is the source of your problems.

DVCAM runs at 150% speed of DV, so tapes appear shorter by 50%. Set the deck to DV mode.

Easy solution: convert everything not using MS DV AVI type2 codec into MS DV AVI type2. Never use Xvid, DivX or other esoteric material for editing.

You are not using DVCAM mode on those tapes, are you? That could explain the 56 minute limit on an 83 minute DV tape.

If the tape runs out, the problem most likely is the tape. Are you sure it is 80 minutes?
