I am working on a project which the length is about 65 minutes, i’m trying to export to a 80 minute mini dv tape through firewire in premier pro cs3. I keep getting to about 56 minutes and my tape runs out. Is the time line not giving me an accurate time amount through the sequence? I figure 65 minutes worth of footage should fit on a 80 minute tape right? i’m not sure what i’m doing wrong and i NEED HELP ASAP

If the tape runs out, the problem most likely is the tape. Are you sure it is 80 minutes?

that’s what i thought. I’ve tried two different brands that are 80 and 83 minutes and it’s still stopping at 56minutes. i know right, i can’t figure it out

You are not using DVCAM mode on those tapes, are you? That could explain the 56 minute limit on an 83 minute DV tape.

i’m dumping them to a Sony DVCAM/mini DV deck. when you say, DVCAM mode what do you mean? there is a light on the deck that says DVCAM and it is lit when it’s recording yes. ????

DVCAM runs at 150% speed of DV, so tapes appear shorter by 50%. Set the deck to DV mode.
