I’ve just bought a new editing PC and installed my Canopus Storm card
and Premiere Pro 1.5. Everything seems to be in order. I have moved
some captured AVI files from my old hard drive to the new machine.
When I import these into a new project and put them onto the timeline,
they show the preview of the first frame fine. However, if I try to
play the files the preview window goes black and after a few seconds I
get the report Stop playback, drop frame has occured.

The files were captured in Premiere 1.5 & Storm card on the old computer.

    Any ideas please?

Dump the Storm, convert the AVI’s to MS-DV AVI type 2 and you are ready to roll.

You have experienced the curse of “reference files”…the .avi is simply audio plus reference to the video files located nearby. The absolute path to the reference files must remain exactly as they were captured including the drive letter.
