What format is your source? Often it is DV. If that is the case, no reason to render as uncompressed. Leave it as MS-DV AVI type2.

Why worry about 1.5 GB with disk capacity in the TB’s? One hour of (compressed) DV is 13 GB, so what are we talking about. Peanuts.

I’m surprised that Audition is mentioned and not Soundbooth, especially since the AppleInsider showed the pricing structure for the new version, where Audition was missing, but Sounbooth part of the production Studio.

    Care to elaborate?

Hopefully in the next version (CS3) the quality of AME will have been improved.

Further suggestion: Export your finished project to tape, so you can use it in the future, downconvert the new tape to SD, capture and export with AME to Encore for burning.

AFAIK it can’t be done and it does not seem odd to me. Just consider a still on the time line with the default 150 frames duration. Which frame should be picked? The first, the last, the middle one, or all the frames that are equal to the source monitor. I don’t know. What about a clip of some static scenery, you want the program to search all your sequences for an exact match of the frame selected in the source window? I wonder what that would do to search times…….

See if the result from transcoding in camera yields a better result. So export your HDV material as SD DV from the Z1.
