What kind of laptop are you using?
(Type/disk size/RAM/how much free space on the disk and if you know the speed and buffer-size of it, that would be good)

I see that the general concensus goes towards not capturing to the system disk. When working off a Powerbook, I have had much more success doing exactly that (instead of capturing to an external FW on the same FireWire bus as the camera), given that I never fill the disk beyond 70%.

You should anyway first try to trash preferences. But I guess you’ve done that already…

I guess it’s only jealousi that’s make me answer this question over and over again… -;) Consder reading some posts.

But as it is:
Apple hav stated that the new PCIe explitidely NOT support FCP prior to 5 or FCE prior to 3.01.

There is supposed to be a workaround, but noone have so far bothered to post whether it really works.

Search posts for “AGP”. And pleace tell us if it works…

I cannot enough recomend the “make a full system backup” with Carbon Copy Cloner sentence.

Tiger has been a rather disturbing experince for me, but I also changed a lot of my hardware at the same time, so I didn’t bother to. Panther was just soooo easy!

So the bad spell of systemirritations has been with me ever since…

I’m definitely not a UNIX head, but Tiger has been a Rocky road. Even though I did the Archive and install.

The current frust?
It was a Tiger problem with an outdated installer that told me that I didn’t have permissions to create a folder in the app folder.Messing a lot with what I could see, didn’t make things better (or worse for that sake.)

I must say I’ve been considering to “Pantherize” myself again since I upgraded to Tiger.

Panther was a dream when it came, and I never had any serious issues with it, neither with the system, nor with making apps work as they’re supposed to.

With Tiger:
1. Networking problems (that partly sort of just “went away at some point”.
2. Printer problems (related to the above. Not solved- doing the USB thingy at
the moment.)
3. Spotlight the resource-hogger. I think the good old “Find” function is what
I miss the most about Panther. Except for the general: It just works
4. Permissions seems to rotten and have to be rebuilt much more frequently.

Basically I sorta feel a step backwards to the 6-7-8-9 days when daily system maintainance was part of the job. Guess I’ve been spoiled for some years now.

I was on the verge of going back when I asked this question, but since then I’ve sort of managed to make more crucial things work, than the crucial things that don’t. And I’d hate to rebuild my system once again. So I’ll stay Tigered.

Congratulations!

You’ve just got yourself one of the best pieces of software ever made.

To fix your sstartup volume, you’ll either have to boot from the CD or have another volume/disk/partition with a system on it and DW.

For all your other disks/volumes/partitions you kan run DW from your startup disk.

Instalation is as easy as drop’ing the app where you ant it + registering it, and off you go.

The fun thing about DW is that it basically works very vell. Has saved my b… a number of times.
