    1. 4 years of school and 15 in the field. Still learning something everyday.
    2. We learn how to push the buttons but I don’t feel story-telling is somthing taught. I see it as something felt. My favorite edited pieces are done completely different than I would have done them ot rold someone to do them. Bah to conformity.

who put an editor under florescents? Thats wrong.

I’m deaf in my left ear so I have no problem with fan noise. That’s why you see the left audio monitor so close to my head and the right one on the corner of the room. Perfectly balanced to me.
The deck is louder than the Adrenaline bob and the pc put together. Doesn’t sound bad. My building is off a pretty busy road and I have found the fan noises actually help mask the traffic noise.

save the psd files as tga files (resize to 720X486 first). You can then import em as fill screen graphics with the Inscriber. You can throw those in the DVE and have yer way with em.
Linear bays were toal chick magnets.
“wow, what do all these buttons do!?”

man, I was hopin’ you’d be all like “stop clickin that one thingy, man and it’ll be all rockin like dokken!”
Today the composer and source windows stopped playing video, although I was getting it out of the box just fine. Just froze on whatever I was parked on when I hit play. That’s the kinda stuff that’s gonna get old real quick. I fully expected a glitch or two when pushing it hard but I guess I assumed playing video wouldn’t be a problem. Is this something you have seen?
How about numericly entering a level in the audio mixer and getting a whole other number? Like I’ll hit -4 and get -14 or some random number and have to waiste time dragging the fader. Speaking of waisting time, it enters trim mode when I push go to edit. Sup widdat? I don’t like having to enter and exit a trim mode to trim, let alone when I just wanna go to an edit point.
It’ll only get better from here, man.

    lol
    still waiting for it, man.
I’ve only had three hard and heavy days on it but so far I am just not impressed with it.
Kinda takes me back to when I had a $10k box with Premiere on it and that was over 10 years ago.
It seems to like to crash once a day so far but I don’t have to reboot or anything, just relaunch and it’s back. It feels much like a version one software to me right now. I hope it’s just new box/user syndrome that’ll iron out with more use.

While I know several editors that have switched from an Avid product to FCP, I don’t know any who have gone the other way. Avid’s interface hasn’t had any lovin’ in well over a decade and it shows. When FCP has a new release, it actually has new features, not just bug fixes. It’s growing by leaps and bounds while Avid products seem to just be lingering.
Today was my first in-session day with my new Adrenaline, having just come from a very old symphony v3.1. So far, I consider it a lateral move. There are many things that are better about it but just as many that leave you scratchin your head wondering how sombody in Tewks still has a job.
10-15 years ago, Avid got feedback from editors… and responded to that feedback. The dudes designing FCP, obviously do that today. I can’t say I’d be happier with FCP today but at the rate things are going, it’s getting pretty easy to predict a flavor of choice just a few years from now.

write on in AE is ok. Animated masks always work fine.
My favorite was the stroke recorder in Aura.

    yeah it duz.
Still havn’t fired it up. I hear that respose is an issue… hitting stop and it trickles a bit and things like that. I don’t hit stop to make an in pont though so I’m hoping this doesn’t phase me a bit.
Still, all in all, it’s gotta be a breath of fresh air for me. If nothing else, I won’t be “hoping’ it makes it till the dubs are made. I’m bald as a result of my old symphony.

    neither.
My goals have always been the same. My philosophy has too. It’s my attention span that gets me off course sometimes. I don’t pretend to be the driver. I know I’m just along for the ride.
