your best bet is to import an EDL and batch digitize.
I know of no way to bring the project over.

December 19, 2005 at 9:09 pm in reply to: HD vs HDV

I live mainly in a betaSP world so HDV is simply beautiful to me. Not close to HD and the average couch potatoe would see this as well. They may not know wqhat they are seeing but they will see a difference.
It’s a wonderful format for the dollar but if it were as good as uncompressed high definition, there wouldn’t be a need for the expense of HD.
Suits crack me up. They often run the companies that house the artists and engineers that create their income but seldom have they actually pushed the buttons. Makes no more sense than me starting an accounting firm.

the DVE is pretty worthless for this. Pan & Scan will work much better than resize.
After Effects is your best bet.

sapphire’s glow alone is worth it’s price. I use it somewhere in every show I do.

December 12, 2005 at 1:34 am in reply to: normal hours for designers?

Ther is no such thing as normal hours for designers. Bankers have those.
Hours are one thing that can get away from an artist. We tend to lose ourselves in our work.
I have changed my hours greatly over the last year. I don’t kid myself into thinking I chose an industry that can abide by a 9 to 5 mentality but I betcha I have averaged less than 50 hour work weeks for the last 6 months. Working for a boss is no different than being slef employeed in this case. Ya do what ya have to do to make sure all deadlines are met. Sometimes thats an easy breezy week and sometimes thats a mess of doubles. If it doesn’t all average out in the end, compinsation is required.
This makes all the diffence in the world in an artist beingf happy while they’re workin’.
On average, I’d say most shops are 8-6ish with a lunch but when projects with tight deadlines come up, all bets are off.

just looks wireless in the photo. It’s a lazer mouse with a tail.
I havn’t found a wireless setup I like yet. I dig waccom’s tablets/monitors. Once the delay is out of those, I’ll be editing on da couch.

yeah, a tracker would be nice and the loss of secondary color correction blows.
For everything I gave up, I gained something else.
