yeah, I always thought that was as strange downgrade.
I’ll be pushin buttons on it by Tuesday evening. Otta have plenty of feedback pretty soon.
I have clients lining up to test it out so it’s gonna get plenty of action.
Considering the system I traded in, I don’t think I’ll be displeased with speed on the Adrenaline in HQ mode.

well it was that v1.0 that had me riled up. Should not have been released at all, imo but heck, if people wanna pay to beta test their stuff, they’d be fools not to let em. I don’t have it in for Avid. I just know they can do better than what they are right now. Same can be said for many companies. Truth is, after all the dust settled, a current Avid product was still the best fit for me. Don’t misunderstand this as me saying, “man, Adrenaline rules now.” I know better. I’m just looking at what I need and what I can afford. Adrenaline just kept coming up. I know the interface, I shoot HDV and I didn’t wanna spend more than 30k with trade in. It was either Adrenaline or FCP at this point.
If I didn’t have clients behind me I would have (without any thought at all) gone with a nice FCP setup.
Thats not a knock at FCPs stability…. more at my own comfort level between the two apps.
I’m excited. I look at it as being in a rebuilt old Charger all this time and now getting new Charger SRT8… 4 doors is kinda funky but it hauls ass and doesn’t break down as much. I know I’d be embarrassed if I challenged a Viper so I simply wont do that but I have new tires that are ready to be smoked.

I had a Symphony system that liked to hickup and lose all acess to media from time to time. With Medea Drives it was just that… gone. Do over. Stay 36 hours straight to meet the deadline kinda thang.
With Avid drives, I was always able to delete the database files and get the media back.
Much more stable… avid drives. I was on a dawg but in my personal experience, medea drives blew.

If I wanted to get into the dubbing bidness, I’d have rates that are competitive with dub houses. I’m a post house though and I charge by the hour to edit. I’m a one mand band so basicly, people are buying me, my time and my gear by the hour. Doesn’t matter to me how they wanna spend that time but I do not change rates for thsi or that. I’m at a certain amount an hour. We can digitize, edit, animate, talk golf, or dub during that time. It’s up to the client.
The way I am set up, it ties up the whole system to do a dub right. Doing dubs at a cut rate would be canabalism for me.

10 years ago, I was a senior editor in small post-production facility in Dallas. I was at 8 bucks an hour and tickled pink to be getting it. Tickled because I was making much less than that at my last editing job and $3.35 an hour when I started. I got the job by sneaking off the job site of a construction company and editing for them for free until they either hired me or told me to piss off.
Kids have a way of makin a brutha have to double his salary so I did a few times, moving from post house to post house, state to state. Long story short, I charge $225 per hour now, knowing I would someday while pushin buttons back then for nada. I didn’t se it as an investment as much as an initiation process.
Nobody gets into this business for the money, thats the honest to God truth. This is an industry not a single one of us here could avoid. It’s a love thang; The inability to punch a clock for a hourly wage in a field unlrelated to our passion, which just feels like a waist of time.
Simply put, If you truely love editing, you will be wonderful at it and people will want to pay you alot of money to do it for them. If the love isn’t there, there are certainly easier ways to make a dolla.

You could export each one as a quicktime with the animation codec.
May be easier to just digitize em. I grab HDV analog by tirning off deck control. Works fine as long as ya don’t need tc.

I’ve tried it too. I fel rushed when standing. Guess that comes from standing in lines or something but I couldn’t do 16 hour sessions on my feet.
I have everything set up as ergonomicly freidny for me as possibly but no matter what I do, I can’t seem to get that piercing pain under my right shoulder blade from happening. It’ll get me up out of the chair sometimes. Sometimes the skin is numb there but the pain continues deeper.
Anybody else get this?

Hard to comment more on your editing as I don’t know what elements ot time frame you were given. What I just watched flowed nicely though.

I’m sittin here in shorts, a t-shirt and bare feet. Thats how I edit.
In a pitch, I usually go ahead and put on my sandles.

I use to go to job interviews wearing sandles and t-shirt. Just part of the imnterviewing process for me. It’s not like I’d show up everyday for work in a golf shirt and dockers so I saw no reason to front that in an interview. If I had a person that was put off by my attire, it saved both of us time and frustration down the road by my weeeding them out from the get go. At the same time, if they dug that and my tie-dyed resume, I figured we’d probably hit it off ok for 60 hours every week.
There are times for nice dress but someone usually has to die or get married for that. Getting new bidness or pushing buttons doesn’t require anything more than comfort out of me.

Add edit where you want it to start, add edit where you want it to end and build the lens flair over a quick dissolve benieth it.
I almost always use these effects as filler rather than applying to clips.
