It truely is hard to rewind your brain and start catering to this box after so many years on a real Avid.
I can’t afford to be trained by Avid tho. My competition is full of younger dogs with less weight to carry.
Besides, I could have been a perfect dog a long time ago and made alot of freakin money. I’m all about fetching and wagging my tail to the man, the good dog that I am, but every now and again the man needs a wet shoe to know whats up.

I really dunno how they stayed in business these last couple of years. I expect that will change very soon.

I’m all about persistance. It’s what ya persue that count, I think.
I admitidly follow up less than most. I call back once as practice, twice if I’m truely after it. Thats it tho.

I use to just be an editor. Man, I’d pick a place I wanted to work at and pretty much they either had to hire me or tell me to scram. I’d tell em that in some cases.
Now I’m in a different seat. A seat probably not unlike his somtimes. When the phone rings it’s more of an interuption than a rejoice sometimes and when I get called over and over by the same dude, it can get pestering. Dont pester. Be top of mind. This is a dance that ya do and it’s based on your personal relationship and intuition.
Does that mean call when that voice tells ya to? no sir.
just means make sure he has your number when a project is a go.

todays cheap firewire drive prices make it very easy to have a client pay for storage. They buy the drive, it sits waiting for them and that ensures they’ll be coming to you next time they need somthin.
It’s as easy as charging a one hour fee to back it up.

yeah, I can’t afford the 5 dollar loaded buffalo hot sauced chili dog that causes heartburn.
I just wish they made a nice chili dog with cheese for 50 cents more than the one dollar plain hotdog.
I remeber a product they offered in the 90s that was like this. It was called the Media Composer and man, it was good.
Coca Cola tried to teach the corporate world that ya can’t take a product away from the public wothout feeling the burn when they swapped cok for new coke. Avid was not listening so they swapped their entire sound and loved meridien line for this buggy nonsense we all hoped would be a short stint, learned from and corrected. It’s been too many years to assuem they’ll start making good chili dogs now.
I here there is a pretty cool stand setting up over at apple.
They at least experment with chilis rather than misleading potental lunch eaters.

I see metasync as Avid’s scapegoat for not improving functions that have needed improvement for 10 years.
While we can add a chapter for a DVD today, we still ahve to mixdown everything before making that DVD and all those cool effects inth show we are making the DVD out of have to be done in AE because today’s DVE is still 1995 technology.
usless but somthing else to boast about in their literature.
I’d be fine with true native HDV capabilities and a DVE that is not aliased. Maybe a more modern way of trimming?
Metasync is Avid’s biggest testimony of having priorites waaaay out of wack.

there is not a best for the internet setting but you can find a best for you setting with some trial and error.
I use 480X360 29.9 fps 500kbs
This looks nice and doesnt kill anybody with file sizes.
Just a metter of tweekin the kbs if that becomes an issue. 320X240 is a norm res for the net. I just like to make em a little biger than that.
