AVID will open hot dog stands all over the United States, and based on it’s sucess, open up further stands in other countries. Mustard and Sourkraut will cost extra (of course – it’s AVID).Bob Zelin

March 6, 2008 at 3:44 pmAnd of course, the mustard and sauerkraut will not be compatible with non-AVID hot dogs; in fact, they will cause non-AVID hot dogs to catch fire. But for 1500 dollars and a training session for 2500 dollars, AVID will sell you a board that goes in the hot dog roll which allows the AVID mustard and sauerkraut to work with non-AVID hot dogs.
The only caveat is that the AVID mustard has to go on the outside of the roll, because it’s always been done that way in the film industry.

March 6, 2008 at 4:13 pmI can’t believe you guys.
Here’s the truth…
Nobody eats hotdogs anymore. Hotdogs are dead and gone and bankrupt and anyone who eats hotdogs is living in the past and is afraid of change. Their tastebuds are afraid to taste something new and they only eat hotdogs because they don’t know better. In a few years all the hotdogs will be gone and these people will starve because they haven’t started eating the hottest, best food on the planet. What’s that food?
The new food is finely cut pastrami. Everybody eats its. It goes down easy, works with all the new condiments, is cheap as dirt, and even Walter Murch likes it. He’s eaten it for a few lunches! The best part is that eating pastrami is intuitive–there are 13 year olds all over the world making top shelf sandwiches in their mother’s basement, and they’ making those sandwiches with pastrami!
Don’t even bother with the hotdogs, the future is in our kitchens and it’s finely cut pastrami. Anyone who tells you differently just doesn’t get it.
🙂
Me…I’m still eating hotdogs. They taste better to me.
Michael.
PS. The announcement has been delayed due to recent management changes. Here’s an official word on it:

March 6, 2008 at 4:47 pmThere was nothing about the hot dogs in that annoucement. By the way…hot dogs are much better than pastrami in a workgroup situation, in that a chain of hot dog links can have a hot dog user working on hot dog one in the chain, while hot dog user two is working on hot dog three in the chain. As long as the roll (AVID calls it a bun) is checked in, the workgroup will work as expected. If the roll isn’t checked in, you may get “hot dog missing” messages, or “HXF (hot dog exchange format) missing”.

I do believe the chili dog option on the AVID Hot Dog has been EOL’d. The AVID Hot Dog Nitris (no nitrates added) is now available for 180,000 dollars. It has the Chili, Buffalo Red Hot, and Pig in a Blanket options included, but the chopped onion option requires an upgrade to the Nitris Weener V1.034 boardset. Mustard and Sauerkraut are part of the Boris Condiments plugin. You know…I’m kinda getting hungry myself.

March 8, 2008 at 6:17 pmyeah, I can’t afford the 5 dollar loaded buffalo hot sauced chili dog that causes heartburn.
I just wish they made a nice chili dog with cheese for 50 cents more than the one dollar plain hotdog.
I remeber a product they offered in the 90s that was like this. It was called the Media Composer and man, it was good.
Coca Cola tried to teach the corporate world that ya can’t take a product away from the public wothout feeling the burn when they swapped cok for new coke. Avid was not listening so they swapped their entire sound and loved meridien line for this buggy nonsense we all hoped would be a short stint, learned from and corrected. It’s been too many years to assuem they’ll start making good chili dogs now.
I here there is a pretty cool stand setting up over at apple.
They at least experment with chilis rather than misleading potental lunch eaters.
