take it into After Effects. It scales up much better than avid’s DVE so you’ll be able to hide those edges easier in AE.

If you wanna pan and scan those bigger shots, you’ll wanna keep em 1080 but unless your gonna do that, I see no reason to eat up the drive space.

You must have gotten this increadibly cheap as one can pick these up on ebay already operational for little to nothing.
It’s impossible to know what ya have and don’t have.
You are prolly best off hiring a local avid engineer for an hour or two. You can tear some stuff up with a trial and error approach. -
if I am hearing your question right, there is no way (that I am aware of) tochange the speed intervals when you hit twice speed, ect.
You wil find you ear rapidly trains itself to twice and even three times speed dialog. This is how I go through talkin’ head much of the time. -
I have a very simple rule of thumb and all of my clients know about it.
Stuff thats easy on me comes out pretty cheap. Pains in my butt are expensive.
This means, while I charge by the hour, if I have a client whos company I enjoy, I round 6 hours and 15 minutes to 6 hours. If I have a grinder int he room making me wish I had gotten a real job, I can very easily make lables well into 7 hours…. 8 if they babble alot. -
I count lava lamps as art and I sport 3 of different colors and sizes in my small suite. Enstein sticking out his tongue is the only wall art other than a metal sculpture.
Laid back is what an edit suite needs to be. If it looks like a lab, it just aint cool. -
As Walter mentioned, a hald day rate plus expenses is the morm. I usually do not do this though.
I am a one man band with overhead. I charge no different for digitizing, editing, animation, sound design or shooting. To me, travel is no different. I charge full rate as a way of limiting my travel time.
That said, I am all about the package rate when I travel. It’s usually a day or two of shooting, a day or two of travel, and a few days of post. If I see a 6k budget, I can somtimes call that 5k knowing a chunk of that is sleepin’ on a plane. -
sapphire’s glow darks is awesome for this. You can also fake it with a color effect as filler ona track above a quick dissolve.

you otta be able to see this on any monitor but if you open the statistics from the hamburger menu of your bin(s) you can see the compression ratios of each clip.

I use to do the Life and Times shows for TNN.
I found learning about the person it was about first to be the best way to start.
It was kind of a shame. I’d become a new fan of, say, Feron Young and just as I had a new appriciation, he’d be gone.
Anyway, there are mask tricks in AE you can do for stills. I like to animate the principal seperate from the background. Still my favorite thing to do with a still. I like to tell the story first, that is to say, I apply the photos to be used where they will be used. After all selections are etched in stone, I then treat em. You dont wanna go spending time treating a pic that doesnt wind up making the cut.If you are fortunate enough to get to shoot this as well, you will find asking the same questions to many people will allow you to tell a great story bouncing from one person to the other. The stills will enhance this and hide some cuts.
Always ask for video and/or stills of all the best stories told. You’d be surprised what actually exists somtimes.heres one I made of my dad not long ago. Not exactly what you are talking about… more of an obt, iguess but you will see some of that still treatment I spoke of.
