stabalization
ive got an aerial of a 4 story building on fire…very shaky – ive tried both stabalization and regional stab. but no matter how many variations i try the black edges are all over the place…i cant zoom in enough to get rid of them without the whole picture becoming useless…any tips would be helpful…i actually followed an online tutorial about this, but his black edges werent as dramatic as mine, and his only suggestion was to zoom in on the pix

Could you create a matte in PShop or AE? Then put some cool flames in the matte….?

NO! this is a serious investigative piece, several people died, and no offense, but the “lapping flames” concept just doesnt cut it…just wondering if i am missing out on a key learning curve in the stabalization technique for a shot i need…

My experience with stabilization has been it works with little shakes. Anything more, you have to decide wether to live with zooming in enough to lose the edges of the frame, or figure out a way to cover it, or lose the shot.

take it into After Effects. It scales up much better than avid’s DVE so you’ll be able to hide those edges easier in AE.
