Have any UK editors noticed the dip to colour transitions they do on BBC 1’s Top Gear” programme? On the features just about all of the shots have some sort of vignetting and the fades always start from the outside of the vignette and close in, and then out again. I can’t seem to emulate this. Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks.

sapphire’s glow darks is awesome for this. You can also fake it with a color effect as filler ona track above a quick dissolve.
I love Top Gear. I want that dude’s job.
For the last few years, I have been making a show of the same flavor. You may dig it:

    Sorry, how do you mean?

    what are you editing with?
you can use a quick disolve and on a track above the discolve, animate brightness, contrast and saturation. You can add some blurs to it too.

Im using FCP. So, you have your transition on one track with the dissolve but on the layer above you have a duplicate track?
    Im a bit confused.

these filters would be on v2, assuming your disolve is on v1.

I just tried out using Glow Darks as a transition, and it looks great. Very cool.

    Thanks!
