This is why I stopped “upgrading”. I can’t afford to beta test for Avid with a client sitting over my shoulder.
While I am still on MC v2.7.1 today, it’s ironic that I was on MC v4 15 years ago.

I still use the uncompressed meridien codec. I don’t have time to roll the dice on bugs as avid releases new tests for us so I stick with old faithful.

I could see a communal tip jar that goes to charity as being very productive. Off the top of my head, I lean towards leukemia as the end target for this. Perhaps it could be a different great cause each month, quarter or year.

I just stick to my hourly rate. It makes things simple on my end and less reckless/carefree on their end. Some still wanna pay me my regular hourly rate to make dubs or burn DVDs. I’m now fine with that.
In the end, what I sell is my time. None of it is worth less based on how they elect to spend it.

Dockers and a golf shirt. Less than that, they may see you as a slacker. More than that, they may give you a noogie. Your attire will be invisible this way and they will be looking at you and your reel… not what you are wearing. If you have ever been in their building, it’s as easy as wearing what you saw others wearing there.
As far as other tips. It’s an interview. Do be sure you interview them. You’ll be spending more than half of your waking hours there so you want to make sure it’s a good fit for you. Don’t just answer questions… ask some.
