I guess the good news is that this is a known issue. You’re probably using Quicktime version 7.0.3, or as I unfortunately discovered today ver. 7.0.4 is also subject to the problem. You’ll need to downgrade back to 7.0.1. Apple has created a downgrader (admitting the problem, but apparently not fixing it in this latest version of quicktime). You can get it here:

I made one for our new-years party by using the effect Video:Timecode, and changing the default frames/sec to hundredths of a second. …and of course, run it backward.
Caveat: Couldn’t seem to change the font.

  • Keylight seems to have something similar as well as a side effect of the outside matte adjustments (by choosing “repeat edge pixels”)

The one bummer about continuously rasterized vector art is the masking. I couldn’t get masks to respect the 3D space, or even get them to mask 3D objects as overlying 2D masks for that matter.
The manual has a brillant solution: “Turn off the collapse button”.
Gee, thanks for not acknowledging the issue, Adobe.
    LOL.

I use Twixtor to both great success and miserable failure. In a dolly shot up a hospital patient on a gurney, it created a beautiful smooth illusion of a very slow dolly. On a slow zoom of a greek temple, it failed miserably, creating bouncing distortions 30% into the frame, not just in the edges. It was weird how poorly it did with pixels that were easily apparent. Try the trial plug-in. If it works for your project, great!
I’ve had similar varied results with the RE:motion Blur (or whatever it’s called).

can Spaceman post a sample image or file for us to examine? Does Spaceman need to specify the byte order when saving to Mac or IBM, as needed?

This is no doubt something Adobe wishes they already had built into AE. What is the likelyhood that we’ll purchase Nucleo only to have it (or something similar) built into ver. 7? Any word on this being a feature of ver. 7?

December 12, 2005 at 2:44 pm in reply to: confetti

Try making a composition of a small square rolling in 3D space to make one piece of spinning confetti. Now, import that comp into a new comp, and create a new solid. Apply particle playground to the new solid, but specify the single confetti layer as your Layer Map in your Particle P. settings. Read up in the Help-Effects Help files for more info on how to randomize the confetti layer start so that they’re not all synchronized.
