Well I guess for $300 you can’t expect too much. Hopefully they’ll put some of the pro features back in, or there may be a bunch of FCP people switching over to AVID. Luckily I’m pretty happy with FCP 7. It’s been good to me and my company so I’ll continue to use it until a ‘Final Cut Pro X’ PRO version comes out or I get impatient and switch to AVID.

I have a Canon HV20 that I use for personal stuff, but it looks amazing. I believe it’s under $1000. Has a great looking ‘cine’ mode.

Currently when I attempt to consolidate a project using the media manager and set it to copy media with handles, when the project rebuilds usually there are a few clips that do not copy over correctly. What I usually end up doing is turning off the ‘handles’ and it copies the entire clip over. So if I have a 20 minute clip and only used 2 seconds out of the clip, it copies over the entire 20 minutes. If I turn on ‘Handles’ and try to get it to copy only 2 seconds plus handles, a lot of times I’ll get an error when the project tries to rebuild with the new media. I was just wondering if they’ve fixed this in FCP 7.

I guess more specifically I was wondering if they’ve fixed the Media Manager tool. Any time in the past when I’ve attempted to use it to consolidate a project it ends up with errors and I have to manually copy over clips.

Does the new FCP 7 have native .r3d support for RED users. It seemed a little grey in the description.

I’m looking forward to Warp Drive technology©. Basically you get transported to the future, after your edit has been completed. Saves on the editing pains.

I’m still running 7.3.1 FCP 6.0.2 and 10.4.11. The last time I tried to upgrade Quicktime and Leopard I ended up having to reinstall everything from scratch. I’m sticking to the above until Apple proves they have new stable Pro settings.

I too had this problem. It was when I upgraded to leopard. Once I reinstalled 10.4.11 the problem went away. I’m staying away from Leopard for a long time.
