I too switched to PC from mac and it’s been fine. My concern with your selection is primarily the AMD. I know they’re now adding Thunderbolt support but I’m not sure the benefits of AMD are significant enough to abandon i7 or i9 chips.

You’re definitely thinking right about maximizing your lanes for future GPU adds though so could you get the same options with an i7-8700k or i9-7900x?

fwiw- there’s a lot of articles on the web explaining why you should avoid Raid 5 at all cost. It’s also been talked about extensively in the Adobe Hardware forum and the consensus is to never use Raid 5.

This sure sounds like a comment from someone who hasn’t tried it out. Resolve 15 is a fantastic piece of software that may not be highly adopted yet but the future of that program is very bright. Editor, color, vfx and sound editor all in one and basically free. I think people need to give Resolve a try before making grand statements against it.

Do you have a broadcast monitor that you can check your image with?

I’d recommend that you add one into the mix by adding a blackmagic card or Aja and then you can have full confidence in your outputs.

And since you’re on windows I’d also recommend Potplayer instead of VLC.

Agreed, Resolve is adding great time saving features. Track layer effects and shared grading are two features that could save someone a lot of time overall.

I find it easiest to simply upload your keyboard shortcuts and layout prefs to google drive and then just copy them to the adobe folder on whichever system you work on.

If you’re having issues getting the h264 files into Premiere change the extension to .m4v and try to import again.

That’s why it was taking a long time to process the multicam syncing. Depending on how powerful your computer is a clip 40mins long could take quite some time to sync.

I would start by looking to see if your GPU is being fully utilized by premiere. dropped frames is almost always a symptom of inefficient performance.

Running Bill Gehrke’s performance utility can tell you if your system is running at Max efficiency:
