January 18, 2011 at 12:34 pm in reply to: How can I identify a file format eg widescreen etc?You should be able to right click, show properties on the clip or I normally open the clips in Quicktime and cmd/crtl + i to show the clip properties, as quicktime does give you the aspect ratio, bit rate, fps and codec that was used.
otherwise you can also import the clip into prem and simply drag it onto the “new item” icon in your project folder. that should automatically create the right sequence settings for that specific clip. (not sure if this is possible in Prem cs3 but give it a try)hope that helps

What version of Prem are you on? it should allow for alpha channels…
maybe try as a layered .psd, Prem cs5 does ask me which layers to import. -
Probably the easiest way would be to nest the comp.
then Retime it in the new sequence. I believe the Speed and Duration setting allows for maintaining Audio pitch, but in my experience that never works to well. if you speed it up or slow it down, the pitch will change. not sure how one would correct that.hope that helps.

Hi there Scott
I have created a preset for AME, and this works fine for my iphone 4.
Hope that helps

yeah i mean After Effects.
most plugins install themselves in an Adobe Common folder which is then accessed by both AE and Prem, but i found in cs3 and possibly cs4 that this caused a problem for the media encoder.
the folder can be found at Library/application support/Adobe/Common/Plugins.I choose to then remove the plugs to their respective application plugin folders for AE and Prem.
(Prem’s plugin folder you need to right click “show package contents”on the prem icon, then its under contents/plugins/common.)however this may not be your problem… was simply a suggestion
A good place to start may be with the “yellow triangle symbol” that is displayed on your AME.
that should give you a text file description of the issue. maybe copy and google that error…??hope that helps

which version of AME are you on? i remember having an issue on CS3 where many of my AE plugins installed themselves into an Adobe Common folder. After moving them out and into the AE plugin’s folder Media Encoder worked fine.
not sure if that will help, it doesn’t seem to be an issue with cs5 though…good luck

that is exactly what i was looking for.
managed to pre-comp with a grungy border and some film burns, then add the offset and it works great.
just need to make sure my key-framing makes it seem natural.Happy holidays guys

My friend bradley figured out how to enable his card, GT330M, to make full use of the GPU acceleration in Prem cs5.hope it works for you as well?

You need to select “Render entire work area” – under sequence
I have made a shortcut key to it with “cmd+Enter”
that can be done under Edit/keyboard customizationhope that helps.

Hi Vasik.
im guessing you didn’t have 8 camera’s on set so you moved your cams between static and roaming shots of each band member through a number of takes?
if so, what i have done in the past for this kind of situation is pair certain shots together i.e all the drummer shots, lead, vox etc and edit these in a multicam situation.I normally leave the roaming cams for last.
by nesting the comps in this way you are able to cut the sequence numbers down to 4.
even if you need to change something later you can always double click the piece of the nested sequence and follow it through to the original clips where you can trim, push and pull if needed.hope that makes sense and helps a bit
cheers
