I think it’s just a whole lot of a text on a single layer and position keyframes moving it down. No great mystery, unless I missed something, as it’s barely on screen before it’s cutaway from.

You absolutely can break up a 25 minute video into shorter lengths and then stitch the comps/video back together without any pre-rendering in a larger comp or render out image sequences which at least means you don’t have to render any videos if AE fails.

At a guess(without seeing the footage) Mocha AE would be the best method for hiding a map on a wall.

Honestly I think there’s going to be pain however you do this.

Please make multiple back ups of your project file. I’m not suggesting anything will happen, but can you imagine you get to minute 24 and the project corrupts?

Sorry I couldn’t give you something more concrete to try.

I’m not familiar with keyshot, but E3D is a 3D package built along the same specs as video game graphics. That’s over simplifying but there’s some truth in it. What this means is everything you see in E3D is ‘faked’. There no real ray tracing or light bending. The guys at video copilot have done an amazing job of recreating the look of so many materials, but it does come with limitations.

If you don’t have their pro shaders pack, it might be worth getting as there are glass materials in there. (I think – I don’t have it anymore – long story).

This is new to me and it’ a hard read. I must admit I turn to expressions to solve problems, rather than as an exercise in programing. As a result, I’ve only wished I had global variables on a couple of occassions and been able to circumvent that most of the time using the pickwhip or copying keyframes.

If you look at your example, the only visible smoke comes from the bottom of the barrel. The barrel itself is quite dark. I think I’d fake the depth by using an adjustment layer over the barrel to darken the smoke inside the barrel, so that only a wisp remains.

If you’re not satisfied with that approach, why not fake it further with a Bulge effect set to pinch the origin of the smoke, so that it appears to be coming from further back.

Take a look at Steve Lidrbauch’s tutorial: https://library.creativecow.net/article.php?author_folder=lidrbauch_steve&article_folder=CreatingFireUsingCCParticleWorld&page=1

This shows you how to create a flickering yellow flame – and then all yous should need to do is keykframe the colour and Turbulent Displacement strengths to “convert” the flame to a sharp, blue.

Try pre-comping your pattern comp into a comp with the same dimensions and then apply the puppet pins to that, rather than directly onto the differently sized pattern comp.

I think that should do it.

I’ve just tried this and CC Particle World seems too limited. I did think to suggest Trapcode Particular, but while I can get particles to bounce off a vibrating floor, it’s too difficult to control and they keep passing through the floor.

My next suggestion (and I’ve not tried this) would be to create a layer to be your particle and use an expression to link it’s Y position to the audio keyframe. Once you’ve got it bouncing the way you want, you’ll need to duplicate it hundreds of times. Someone else might know of a way of simulating a particle system (actually looks like Dan Ebberts already has: https://library.creativecow.net/articles/ebberts_dan/particle_gen.php)

Thanks for sharing. I’ve not used Paths that much, so I’ve not got a method for you to attach an object. There’s quite a few tutorials for attaching points to Null Objects. Maybe you could reverse your process to start with the object, then have the path point follow that?
