I know what you’re asking, but like you I’m at a loss to find the setting. I imagine it must be really frustrating. Had a playaround myself and this expression (as a workaround_ will overwrite all periods / dots with a comma:

replace(/[.]/g, ",");

And this is the reverse, if I’ve misunderstood you:
replace(/[,]/g, ".");

The only setting in Preferences I could spot was in the Type setting, where I can choose between Latin and South Asian.
Could it be the font you’ve selected?

Whenever I have tried using audio amplitude with expressions, I have found the value of the amplitude is often too low and have to use a multiplier to get the result I want.

Try creating a text layer and linking the source text to your audio amplitude, that will show you what value is going into the expression. Threshold is set to 20, but it’s possible your audio is only as high as 5… or even 0.1

Take a look at the settings for Turbulent Displace, I think you should be able to add a flame like distortion to your flame image with that effect.

OK, let me try again.

With your 3D model, if you haven’t already, create a World Position NULL

Then, in Utilities, use the Generate 3D Position options to create a 3D NULL on your engine.

Parent this new Element Position NULL to the World Position NULL.

Create a new Light, and parent this to the Element Position NULL, making sure to zero out its position.

Then, in Optical Flares, (without parenting the layer to anything) make sure the Positioning Mode is set to Track Lights.

Your optical flares layer is patented to a 2D element position layer. So it’s shifting the layer not the effect. Unparent it and recentre the optical flares layer.

Did you use the utilities option in Element to a 3D null for your engine? That’s the data you need to use to link your flare to.

Your Engine thrust looks cool by the way.

Is the fairy dust layer the same dimensions as the comp? You might need to precomp the fairy dust layer.

Taking a mask as the first approach: add three points at the top, one in the middle and two just off to the sides. Then set a key frame for the mask path, move ahead in your transition and drag down that centre point to the bottom, take it off screen completely. Move a few frames further on and move the other to points off left and right, so the mask opens up more.

The trouble with this approach is that you will cut the screen, your zip tracks(?) won’t move off, so you’d have to animate these separately. If you use a block shape layer, with repeaters for the keys, you should be able to create a flexible zip which can be animated to pull back.

Alternative approach: create a black and white gradient, like an inverted triangle, but tapering. So that it looks like a zip half opened. The use a gradient wipe of the image AND use it as with a gradient displace effect to distort the image at the same time.

Whichever tracking system you are using, you’re limited by the fact you are only able to provide 2D information of a 3D object. Best guess is that C4D will not have enough information to maintain the track in 3 dimensions. Have you tried AE’s face tracker? It might be a better alternative here.
