Try deleting your first key frames, then recreating it. It’s the quickest way I’ve found to resolve this sort of boomerang movement

Use the Pen tool or Ellispse tool to draw a mask on the Text layer, then in the text properties, you’ll see an option for Path. Set it to your mask and the text attaches itself.

I’ve not had it jumping, but just tried this with a subtle text animator and it looks like Element is using the layer’s height value as well as the text’s scale to set position, so there was a bit of bouncing. Couldn’t spot an issue with a big animation though

There’s a preset called Card Wipe Pixel Storm – it might be worth playing around with that to see if you can get that close.

Alternatively, could you use the Shatter effect to break up the person? Thinking this through as I type:

You could shatter the video layer, but set the gravity to zero, so the pieces remain in space. There’s a couple of triangle shapes already there. The Force 1 values can be keyframed, so you could animate it across the body. And if you pre-comp the effect, then time reverse it, the shattered parts will come together.

Can you post the file here? It might help to spot the issue.

Also, I think you can import Illustrator files directly into AE

Linear is After Effect’s range selector expression. You need five elements and it looks something like this:

linear( animatedValue , animatedValueLow, animatedValueHigh, PropertyLow, PropertyHigh)

It’s a really useful expression, but for your described outcomes, there’s a simpler solution.

    1) On your Text properties, add a Scale Animator

    2) In Animator 1, set the End value to 1%

    3) Keyframe the Offset property from 0% to 100%

    4) In the Scale (not the layer’s scale) set the scaling to 110%

When you play this back, you’ll see the text animates up and down. If you then expand Advanced, you can set easing values as a percentage.

  • The project you posted includes using an image file: “xi fi.png”

In order for your friend to render this, you need to send this file too. For bigger projects, with lots of files, it’s worth using File > Dependencies > Collect Files…

This process saves a copy of your AE project, in a folder which also creates copies of all the files used in the project.

Yellow keyframes? Do you mean the ones in the speed graph?

How did you create the shape layer? It might be easiest to use the Rectangle tool (or other) and making sure the Shape layer is selected, draw a new shape. Then you can drag any settings from your initial Shape that you want to keep, into your new one and delete the original Shape 1.

It’s certainly easier to use. I was working on a project the other day with C4D Lite and was switching between the two programs and I caught myself using those navigation shortcut keys to move the camera.

I have a Space Navigator mouse, I’ll have to dig it out and see if it works with that too.
