  • Unified Camera tool – does it exist in AE 17.5?

Most of the updates in AE are welcomed by me, but I find myself constantly trying to right-click to move the camera around, as I would with the unified camera tool. Does it still exist in the new version?

Ah – looks like you have to hold the ALT key down to trigger this now.

You can use the alt-key or you can use the spring-loaded 1, 2, 3 keys. That is, if you hold one of those keys down, you get pan/tilt, zoom, and orbit.

These features make it SO much better to work in 3d space. For example, you can now orbit around your mouse click instead of the (usually unhelpful) camera point of interest.

It’s certainly easier to use. I was working on a project the other day with C4D Lite and was switching between the two programs and I caught myself using those navigation shortcut keys to move the camera.

I have a Space Navigator mouse, I’ll have to dig it out and see if it works with that too.
