I don’t see that Sony Vegas can be used as a host? Not in their list:-

Roger, you need to click on at least one of the Anchors and then right click to select the PATH then you can move the whole Mask.

These points can be tedious to learn how to manipulate, but once you have squeezed out the way to do it, there then follows an understanding of the logic.

Invert Mask Shape: Click on “Position” in the p/c Timeline then Rotate or Flip

    . . or . . .

Invert Mask Effect: Select “Mask” in the p/c Timeline then Change the “Mode” from Positive to Negative

  • When you open this “squeezed” version, what are your project settings telling you? Also, when you click on the Event and look at the Media Properties what are they telling you – viz Media? What settings do you have for your Preview?

Is there a way to copy the text event attributes and paste them to other text events? – None. Presently we have to go into each and every Text Event and change them individually. Knowing this, and in the past I have created a Preset and then used THAT preset to change Text Attribs, but it is still a laborious job.

Now, in SONY DVDA, we DO have the option to paste Text attribs. Interesting huh? I realise this isn’t fair of me, but consistency across the packages would be a real boon. Well, I think so.

Hard question to ask this – but just where AREN’T they appearing? The effect not being seen? In the Event? In the FX selection? In the Preset Manager? – Where? – A screen grab would help. Sticking my head above the parapet here, but you may have the FX By-Pass engaged on the Preview Window Toolbar.

I only use Vegas. I agree with all of the above, and use Lagarith as my preferred rendering option. It works a treat, but I do need to tell Vegas to recognise the Alpha channel, which is done through the Event Properties control.

Hi Roger, sorry for the long delay.

Making Tutes for Vegas has not been a core business for me, but there are a few I would highly rate. Anything by Johnny Rofrano and Douglas Spotted Eagle. Also the official SONY Tutorial DVDs. IMO there are many Vegas YouTube tutes that at best are dreadful to sit through and at worst dangerous in terms of misleading info – ugh . . . .

I should do more myself, on some of the more creative and expressive options that Vegas can deliver. I’ve been considering banging-out a PSD layering tute. I don’t think that users have yet got to realise the powerful opportunities that are within just that one feature alone.

Mostly tutorials weigh-in on the “How to Operate” and then mostly don’t supply the “oh wow!” resultant factor on then using it.

I’ll give it some further thought 😉

Well there are several ways but as your original “sky” colours are shared amongst the NON sky areas then this becomes tricky.

Here are some Options with which you could experiment:

Option 1] Add a 2-Section horizontal banded Generated Media Gradient above the Event. Make one Band Pink and leave the other transparent.

Option 2] Copy the track to track above and Mask out the areas of Track1 you want to add a 2nd Colour Corrector and select the sky elements and change these to PINK

Option 3] Check out my tutorial I did here on the “COW” in showing a 2-Colour result against a Black and White background – but here make the lowest Track FULL colour, not BnW. ( https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/894346)

    Thoughts:-
Option 1] is a compromise in terms of sometimes your head coming into the PINK area. Option 2] can be a PITA. Option 3] Can quickly become cumbersome and needing more tweaking than you may think is really necessary, however it DOES offer amazing control, but you will need to keep tally of the inter layer effects!

Maybe others have a simpler and more effective way on this?
