Yeah, nice . . . there’s about 5>15 frames of sheer Mayhem! – OOps, that sounds like a VASST product?? I use “Mayhem” to do these vary fast bits. However, it’s not beyond you doing a mash-up of ANY old bits and pieces you’ve got to achieve this. I also use GenArts Film Damage, which are really fab too.
One tip I can offer you is that do it say over a goodly set of frames so you can “see” in relative slomo what yer doing and then Ctrl Drag SQUEEZE the group smaller.
If you can get that piece on a Vegas Timeline, slow it down you’ll be able to make out just what is going on too.

I’ve had this logged with SCS and they have responded with that it is a known bug and are working on it.
What can I say? Other than I am NOT going to mess with my registry – no!

Not for me. It’s working fine. Here’s a thought: If you’ve opened a previously VP11-created veg and the settings had the “Start all New Projects with these settings” then is it at all possible that that is what has been carried forward? Dunno . . . .
What I do have is that Nested Children are being opened in VP11, even though that Nest Child was created in VP12. Go figure? Anywho, I’ve had this logged by SCS and they are working on it.

Still no .mp4 or .avi support.”I’m not seeing that, I’ve got both working. What’s inside your AVI and your MP4? Please think of the AVI and MP4 suffixes as purely envelopes. It’s what’s inside that gives any NLE grief. If you don’t have the appropriate CODEC, then all bets are off.

To reiterate Steve’s comment, what are you wanting to happen? VP12 is awesome.

Do connect with Sony and politely enquire after a refund for the difference. I don’t see what we can do? But please keep us informed.

Mark, Steve, that was my conclusion too. I tried this yesterday, and no dice. I couldn’t sub a Black for a colour. I did try.
I have a fundamental flaw in my understanding in how Vegas deals with monotone Colours, in a project like this.

(And there you have it Steve.) You are getting choppiness with MOV playback. Is that ONLY with MOV? Or does other media play-back choppy too?
Perhaps one of the MOV Gurus would like to chip in here?
Is your Project Settings set to the M2T content? What happens if you do a test and, only using a small piece of MOV with that TEST project set to match the MOV?
Here I’m guessing, but Vegas is attempting to match your M2T content to the MOV whilst you are previewing within a M2T project. If that’s the case it’s quite amazing that Vegas keeps up at all.

Matt, your analysis fits with what I’m seeing in the Histograms I’ve got.

I’ve just done to Histogram analyses of your 2 samples, and sample 1 exhibits greater Contrast. Now that may appear as darker, but for my money that’s to do with the colour sampling crunching up the sampling range. The sample 2, the “lighter”, has the sampling over a wider range area.
So, I’d be looking at the way these two renders are allowing for wider or narrower colour sampling.
