Color loss (gray) whenever i render a video
Every time i render a video in sony vegas 10, i get something like this:

after rendering (SO FAR IVE BEEN USING WMV, but it happens no matter what format i render to)

ive matched the original videos Media settings, but i think it has something to do with the encoding or the render settings, im not really sure.
also ignore the timeline in the corner, the two screenshots are only like 3 frames apart.
also i would like to note that the video is being recorded from my PC using FRAPS.

I’ve just done to Histogram analyses of your 2 samples, and sample 1 exhibits greater Contrast. Now that may appear as darker, but for my money that’s to do with the colour sampling crunching up the sampling range. The sample 2, the “lighter”, has the sampling over a wider range area.
So, I’d be looking at the way these two renders are allowing for wider or narrower colour sampling.

It looks like you’ve started with a full colour range image (pixel values 0-255, aka computer RGB) and ended up with a studio RGB image (pixel values 16-235) courtesy of the WMV codec.
Most video codecs don’t automatically clamp/convert computer RGB to studio RGB but WMV does, presumably to prevent you having “illegal” colours in your video file. Strictly, video should only have RGB values between 16-235 (a legacy of analog TV systems), but players and codecs behave differently for different colour ranges and file types…

ok, so im going to assume the easy way to fix this is to apply the studio RGB to computer RGB color correct effect?

You can’t stop the WMV output video being 16-235 (studio) levels – that seems to be just the way it works.
If you’re going to be uploading these to youtube, then use the AVC/MP4 format (Render As > Sony AVC or Mainconcept AVC depending on Vegas version). This should preserve the full RGB range and youtube will (I think) display it the same way.
