bizarre! I can’t get Vegas Pro 12 to behave well. It refuses to let me save any project in its format and instead defaults back to Pro 11.

Still no .mp4 or .avi support. Is it really 2012 or 2000?

These guys are Sony and should be leading and not so far behind the ball. Shame.

They also hosed me for $50 bucks. I updated on My Account on Sony’s web site for 189 and then got an email a few hours after offering it for 139.

They really need to start hiring back folks in their 40s with experience instead of 20 somethings.

Why hurling so many insults at Sony here?
Vegas supports avi & mp4 and what are they far behind the ball with?
Brent, This is not a forum for ranting insults, it is a forum for helping you with software issues.

[Brent Holland] “bizarre! I can’t get Vegas Pro 12 to behave well. It refuses to let me save any project in its format and instead defaults back to Pro 11.”

Not for me. It’s working fine. Here’s a thought: If you’ve opened a previously VP11-created veg and the settings had the “Start all New Projects with these settings” then is it at all possible that that is what has been carried forward? Dunno . . . .

What I do have is that Nested Children are being opened in VP11, even though that Nest Child was created in VP12. Go figure? Anywho, I’ve had this logged by SCS and they are working on it.

I’m not seeing that, I’ve got both working. What’s inside your AVI and your MP4? Please think of the AVI and MP4 suffixes as purely envelopes. It’s what’s inside that gives any NLE grief. If you don’t have the appropriate CODEC, then all bets are off.

To reiterate Steve’s comment, what are you wanting to happen? VP12 is awesome.

[Brent Holland] “They also hosed me for $50 bucks. I updated on My Account on Sony’s web site for 189 and then got an email a few hours after offering it for 139.”

Do connect with Sony and politely enquire after a refund for the difference. I don’t see what we can do? But please keep us informed.

Ah! Age is no respector of Creativity and Vision. It comes in all shapes and sizes of wrinkles! And some of those wrinkles are laugh lines too.

Oh yeah, I also meant to add, drop the “WTF” attitude. It could get you band from Bessie’s Green and Pleasant Pastures.

    Toodles

And because of some of the issues Vegas 11 had,
its best to not have it installed with Vegas 12.

    Solution from Sony…works for me

It appears that Vegas Pro 11 is set as the default program to open that particular file extension. Please locate one of the .veg files that you are trying to open and right click it. Then navigate to Open With -> Choose Default Program and select Vegas Pro 12 from the list.

All .veg files should now be correctly associated with, and opened by, Vegas Pro 12.
