Due to my sound coming from a FCP project (OMF->XML) into vegas, all my stero recordings have been split into seperate L and R files. I understand how to go from a stereo clip to 2 mono clips, but is there a way of merging them back together without exporting them again?

[Lewis Costin] “is there a physicaly way of merging them back together without exporting them again?”

No, not if they are physically two separate files. The only way to combine them into one file is to render them. Since WAV files are lossless this shouldn’t be an issue.

What would a Nested (2x mono audio) Veg do John? I was thinking along those possible lines.

Do you want to produce a stereo file, or simply assign them to the left and right channels in Vegas?

Nested projects is another good idea. I guess it depends on why Lewis wants a stereo file. Since rendering two mono files to stereo has no quality loss, I don’t see any problem with just rendering to a stereo file if that’s what you need. A nested file will produce an audio proxy which just takes up more disk space so if there is no need for the mono files, I feel it’s easier to just convert them to stereo by rendering.
