Aplogies Larry, I went to bed!! And again for, on re-reading it, my inept description. However, here’s what SONY’s Online Help says in a far better and concise way:

“Split-Screen Previews
Click the Split-Screen View button in the Video Preview window to turn split-screen previews on or off.

Split-screen previews allow you to split the Video Preview window so you can see your affected and unaffected video or your video and the contents of the clipboard at the same time. Use split-screen previews to fine-tune video effects or to match colors for color correction.”

Also the Dragging across the face of the Preview to “include” processed or Target footage – Please go to the relevant pages on the Online Help. Use “Color Correction” as a search filter and pick off “Split Screen Previews. PLUS you’ll get sample screen grabs too:

Click the down arrow next to the Split-Screen View button and choose FX Bypassed from the menu.

Select the Split-Screen View button . The cursor is displayed as a .

Choose a preset selection or drag in the Video Preview section to create a selection. This selection will display the unprocessed video. In the following example, the Add Noise plug-in was applied to the event, and the selection displays the original video.

Double-click in the Video Preview window to select the full window, or drag again to replace the existing selection.

Position the cursor on the timeline and click the Copy Snapshot button in the Video Preview window to copy a frame to the clipboard.

Position the cursor at another point on the timeline.

Click the down arrow next to the Split-Screen View button and choose Clipboard from the menu.

Select the Split-Screen View button .

Choose a preset selection or drag in the Video Preview section to create a selection. This selection will display the contents of the clipboard. In the following example, the snowscape is the current cursor position, and the kayak paddler was copied to the clipboard.

Double-click in the Video Preview window to select the full window, or drag again to replace the existing selection.

Click the down arrow next to the Split-Screen View button and choose Select Right Half, Select Left Half, or Select All to indicate which portion of the Video Preview Window you want to use to display unprocessed video or the contents of the clipboard.

When the Split-Screen View button is selected, the cursor is displayed as a . Drag a rectangle in the Video Preview window to create a custom selection.”

Larry, once you get this under your belt, it will prove to be a real bonus. It’s these tools in Vegas that make it the great EDL that it is. But diggin’ it out?!?

However, VP12 is presently showing RED frames on this procedure and has been officially logged as a BUG. If you’ve got earlier VP’s then try it out – VP11 or VP10.

Preview Comparisons, using ClipBoard, are a real “keeper”.

OK, I would be suggesting the following : Copy TO Clipboard – but it’s been Bugged!
Anyway, it’s along the lines of:-

Camera A – Is the Source Colour

Camera B – Is the Target Colour to be corrected

Place cursor and Click on CamA and Copy To Clipboard.

Go To CamB Footage and call up C-to-C by dragging across the screen of the Preview, and it’s this within the same frame. It’s dead easy – when it works . . . .

I wouldn’t take that to the Bank . . . If you’ve got Quantize to Frames OFF you can slip and slide within Frame boundaries. Check to see if this is ON or OFF and test either way.
