You need to setup Vegas to use the surround Controls. In your screengrab, you’re at the Vegas EXPLORER Window. That would be to retrieve Media or files to include.

This is where you find the Surround Panning Controls:

The Main Timeline Toolbar: Project Edit View . . . .

Click VIEW

Select SURROUND PANNER

I got this advice from jr. It worked for me so I am passing it along. On the main Vegas Pro Forum, SCS are asking us to delete the Thumbnails. Now, and as you say, this may not be the “expected” behaviour for a once only install, but as we are getting more “Builds” more regularly, then maybe we have stepped-over from the initial Install criteria, and move up to Builds being a further “initial” install.

Steve, please explain.

Well, I ask ‘cos I don;t think it is corrupt thumbs, you weren’t getting this in a previous Build. My thoughts are that the install of the build or version requires a deletion of that Folder.

That’s exactly what John means. And yes “Wow“!

I think this has been available since VP10? Yup, just checked.

Now we can treat each and every “Layer” now a Track as being a Still or Video on its very own Track:

1] Track Motion using 2D or 3D – this is really splendid!

2] Event Pan/Crop

3] Track (“Layer”) Compositing

The possibilities are almost endless – it’s been a real Creative Coup.

If you get some samples of you using this, it’ll be great to see!

Yours, and JR’s responses indicate that we could very quickly get into a real pickle about this.. So, maybe there’s a need for the “Nest” to have a similar procedure too. This would ensure future-proofing.

A] Any Windows Updates? I’ve read about this being responsible too.

B] We are all aware that Build releases, within a Version of VP, maybe responsible. And again, frustratingly, this may only be the case for some of us.

C] OK, try this experiment, it’s easy:

STEP 1: Temporarily turn OFF Thumbnails by using LIST or DETAIL View within Project Media Pane. Do you get any improvement?

STEP 2: Close Vegas and Navigate to using your OWN [user name] with this PATH
C:Users[user name]AppDataLocalSonyVegas Pro

You will see the 12.0 folder. Now, I have COPIED this folder just to retain its integrity, but then DELETE the original, you could always re-invoke it by using the copy!

STEP3: Reboot PC and open Vegas. Any improvement? I found this worked for me.

The bottom line on this one is that it known to SONY and they are working on it.
