Where is the surround panner?
Posted by Peter Roos on March 26, 2013 at 3:11 amGood evening everyone:
I have premixed a music video in Pro Tools and now want to quickly burn a DVD so I can hear what it sounds like at my home theater system.
However, I can’t find the surround panner in Sony Vegas. I have done this once before, and I can recall there should be a surround panner symbol next to the track.
Not doing anything sexy like automation of effects, just trying to bounce / burn a DVD. I have Platinum 9.0 by the way (Build 92, latest upgrade).
Many thanks!
Peter

March 26, 2013 at 12:11 pmYou need to setup Vegas to use the surround Controls. In your screengrab, you’re at the Vegas EXPLORER Window. That would be to retrieve Media or files to include.
This is where you find the Surround Panning Controls:
The Main Timeline Toolbar: Project Edit View . . . .
Click VIEW
Select SURROUND PANNER

Go to View at the top of Vegas.
(where you have, Project – Edit – View – Insert – Tools – Option – Help).Steve Rhoden

March 26, 2013 at 6:13 pmIn project properties, is audio set to 5.1? Audio track headers should have options for placement, if VMS PLatinum 9.0 is anything like 10 or 11.

March 27, 2013 at 3:30 amIn VMS 11 when you insert an audio track into a 5.1 project it already has the panner. For any audio track already in the project, when you right click to the right of the fader, like where it says “front” in your (Peter’s) screen shot, you get a menu that lets you choose the role for that track — choices include the panner.
