In all but the best and slowest mode, does my plugin produce better results than compressor. In compressor’s best mode, it’s slightly better at the expense of that enormous render time difference.

I’ll give three answers:

Best: Hardware tape to tape on a Snell & Wilcox Alchemist

Cheapest: Use my standards conversion filter, at http://www.nattress.com – quality, as many on this forum will attest to, is great.

Slowest: Use compressor, over 35 times slower than the cheapest option above.

720p30 works great in FCP5 – no problems there. 720p24 on that camera is embedded in a 720p60 MPEG transport stream, but without wasting precious data on those extra frames. FCP5 does not work with this format, but I know of two solutions that I’m currently testing.

It’s not easy to use the 24p with the free solutions using MPEG Streamclip because it gives you a 60p quicktime file, from which you’d have to remove the extra frames, and currently I know of no way to do that, although if someone needs it, I can probably code it up as part of my Standards Converter.

Film Effects has a hell of a lot in it. Tools you can make practically any film look out of. I don’t know what type of glow you want though. Tell me more or show me, and I’ll figure it out for you, but I think you can do it in Film Effects.

MXF doesn’t get transcodec to Quicktime. Both MXF and Quicktime are “wrappers’ for the very same underlying DV/DV50/DV100 codec data, so any such conversion should be very rapid.

I think there’s a bunch of people out there, like myself, who through bad experience, would never touch another Iomega product again. I had click of death take down about 10 drives and discs in one day as it spread like a virus around a computer lab….. Once bitten….

“G Film” is really “Nattress Film Effects”, and I designed it to be essential! It’s so useful, has so many tools, that if I hadn’t have written it myself, I would have bought it! Seriously, I’m an editor and a programmer, so I see both sides and make tools to be used!
