Essential plug ins
Posted by Les Kaye on October 23, 2005 at 3:30 pmA slew of questions, but first:
-are there any FCP plug ins that I MUST have?
-How’s CHV’s collection and does it pay to get the whole bundle?
-Are there decent plug ins for LiveType?
-Is there any kind of plug in keyer for Motion? As well as design plug ins, I’m also interested in any that enhance the FCP/Motion/LiveType workflow.
Thanks,

October 23, 2005 at 3:33 pmHow’s Boris Continuum for general fx, and would it be valuable for professional but only occasional or rare keying? Should have mentioned that we work soley in HD.
Thanks again,

October 23, 2005 at 3:43 pmBoris Continuum Complete is a great “swiss army knife” with a slew of great effects from Film to Lighting to an great Chroma Keyer and clean up tools. It’s the first set I purchase for each new edit suite.

This is a pretty popular topic, My list is somewhere in the archives, but here goes again:
Joe’s filters
Eureka!
Gfilters- all
G film
Continuum Complete
TMTC
Telly’s filters
CHV – all
Silhouette Roto
DVmatte Pro
ReelSmart Motion Blur
PanZoom Pro- for Ken Burns effects, absolutely the best. With all the above, I hardly ever have to leave FCP.
For Motion, DVmatte Blast for keying, will blow you away.

October 23, 2005 at 5:16 pm“G Film” is really “Nattress Film Effects”, and I designed it to be essential! It’s so useful, has so many tools, that if I hadn’t have written it myself, I would have bought it! Seriously, I’m an editor and a programmer, so I see both sides and make tools to be used!
