Thanks. I once had to shoot a book being burned. It was an occult book. I found a clearing in a wooded area that looked good and put some gas on the book and backed up. Camera was rolling on tripod so I lit the match knowing that fumes spread.. but the resulting whoosh ignition with low base rumble sounded great. But I can not make these sounds when I want them! Only by accident. But the sound of flash powder igniting like the old photographers when they would hold up a thing with flash powder on it and then it would flash is a sound I would like to have. It would go good with a white flash transition with photos. Maybe I need to buy some black powder if I can do it without getting labeled as a terrorist and make the sound myself. thanks again.

There are so many at those sites!!! This could take a long time! You don’t know of a small package that are the most used in editing? There are a few whooshes that go along with a flash of white…. and a few others that are very common.

I was told about JES Deinterlacer and it works pretty good for a freeware program.

Then my last question is: Are you making a file from within Motion? Or saving the Motion Project and then dragging that Motion Project file in to the timeline?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is rendered. We are watching on the NTSC monitor. I guess we are just being picky. Our old 4:2:2 system had a really nice dissolve. Many NLE’s don’t doit as well as others. The area of concern is the ramp in or out. right there when the first dissolve takes place it happens not as soft as it could. My home system allows me to adjust bezier handles and then save it as a transition. Whether it is a fast or slow fade… it is silky smooth like film. If my boss had not commented… then it could have just been me. But it is vissable.

  • Well, they gave me an RMA number but before I could send it in, the drive enclosure fell off the top of the MAC and hit a very hard tile floor and the drive just clicks… the sounds of death. Kind of stupid how it happened…. and… the fan is quiet now!!! Oh well.

Thanks guys. I have forwarded your thoughts to my boss. Why couldn’t FCP just have a nice fade that is smooth on the sides? My L.E. at home lets me adjust the bezier curve to my liking and then save it as a transition to use whenever I like. Simple.

  • If I had it to do again, I would not have gotten the Zdisk. I think I would have gotten a rear mounted SATA adapter plate that has the SATA connector and a SATA power connector. That way, you can just put a bare drive on top of the case, or behind or on the side resting on what ever you want… and plug it in and away we go. this way you could have multible smaller drives with complete projects on them. Being in to video, this method of storage is really not much different than expensive broadcast tape.
