I would add a layer node at the end, and key/qualify the dress back in over top of the scene.

Did you create the database from within resolve, or through another program, and you are trying to connect to it through resolve?

Did you change the default username and password when you created the database? (You can’t)

Other than that…yes, check permissions on the drive you are trying to create the database.

It is usually a pretty simple process, unless you are trying to do something “fancy” when you create it.

  • uninstall Avid, trash your settings files, and start again.

I don’t use the mobile app. It used to be just be for apple phones, which I don’t use.

Not sure if they’ve opened it to Android or not yet.

(Plus, the idea of playing a monthly subscription for something like that makes my skin crawl)

I have 4 streamdecks, and an XL plus the Avid dock with a tablet for other controls…the last thing I need is another screen on my desk. )

if you are asking how to create files in photoshop that will import into Avid with proper alpha, the key in photoshop is to rasterize your layer effects. Keep your layer and your background separate. I use black backgrounds as well. I feel Avid prefers items premultiplied over black.

Once you have a background and a logo with drop shadow layer, ctrl click the logo layer in the thumbnail section to select it’s contents.

Then at the bottom, you want to make a new alpha channel from that selection. I’m not in front of photoshop right now, but the button is down in the layer section where the trash can is. (You might have to switch to your channels tab first) If done correctly, you should see a new channel of the alpha image added to the RGB channels.

From there, save as a keyable format. I use tif files, although png should work fine.

In Avid, you need to invert your alpha when you import your logo.

If this doesn’t make sense, i can add some screen shots when i’m in front of photoshop.

I should add, i do use auto hot key scripts as well, but usually for more complicated actions, and multiactions, including moving the mouse around to click on specific menus.

I have an AHK to do automated audio replacement on a particular track number of the timeline,… deslect all audio and video tracks, then select only the track i want…create a freeze frame. Things that i do all the time, but that require multiple steps, and quite often items that don’t have a shortcut keym but require a mouse click at a specific position on screen.

As a further aside, back to your original post, my enter key is mapped to a stream deck button, as are most of my controls. I actually try to handle the mouse as little as possible.

    LOL..glad it works for you.

From memory, im mapping a fast menu to wheel up ctrl +] and wheel down ctrl [

I also have a shortcut on my Avid dock to toggle x mouse on and off, in case I want to use the wheels as originally designed.

December 27, 2021 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Synced audio not present in AAF or ALE export

When resolve creates the synced clips, it has the unfortunate side effect of making it look like those timeline tracks are still using camera original audio, not the audio recorded separately and synced up. In essense, you list is still pointing to the camera recorded audio, not the synced audio you created in resolve.

My method involves editing the ALE in notepad++ to properly identify the audio information, so that the bin that is created during your AAF import, can be adjusted to show the audio information.

I then do a relink in Avid to the raw video and audio files, and end up with a timeline with proper clips.

I’ve done a youtube video on the workflow, and it has been posted here in the the past, but here is the link.

    google search x mouse control.

I use it to zoom in and out of my timeline with the mouse wheel.

You should be able to control any mouse function with any key click combination.
