Hi

Am running Avid Xpress 3.5 on my laptop. Its a Fujitsu/Siemens Amilo. Intel CENTRINO 1,6Ghz 1024 Ram 60HD intel 128video SHARED.

it works perfect, but the problem its when i conect a second monitor to my laptop. I cant see playing in the monitor window if its on the second monitor. The solution its make the second monitor on the left, and use it for the project window, and also to open the bins.

It works perfect, export, import, digitize…. I use the FW port to digitize, and i have already bought a PCMIA firewire card that i use to conect a LaCie extreme D2 250HD. That way i can have a nice tranference rate, and both working at the same time.

I only recomend you not to buy a CELERON, cause the cache its so low, and it can be that Avid dont work with that. I have a friend runnning it, in a PENTIUM 4 laptop, but i also some friend wiht a SONY VAIO, and a HP laptop that they cant use the avid because a soundcard problem. Finally the gave them back.

If you wanna change a file from a finsihed comp and u want to mantain all the properties and keyframes, u must select the itemm on the comp and then, drag the new file over it while u mantain the ALT pressed. That way, u will replace a file, for example to make a duplicate comp, leaving the ohter before the same.

I use it when i have to make diferent composition to make a render qeue in a row.

It happens to me when i used to make a freeze frame.

If you have the two monitors(the one wiht the clip on the left and the compositor on the right), you should choose the one on the left to make a freeze frame.

I mean that you should decide the frame you like in the timelne window, and then make a match frame to choose the frame for freezing.

This way it should work.

It happened to me.

We use SCSI hard drives for digitize and OMF, and 2 IDE for the tgas and also other kind of footage.

Maybe it would be that u have redigitize the clips on the other hard drives and then they cant make it play. Beacuse they are not so quick to support 2:1 resolution with effect.

Try to redigitize the clips again on the SCSI drives if you have. If it still dont work, open the effect windows and try to render from the rendeer button over there, not the render in-out or render at position when you make a rightclilck on the timeline.

If not, you have to find the original clip, and make the motion or speed effect again with the fit to fill option.

Our problem was with the strobe motion.

I would like to know wich avid and system do you have. It would be nice to know for try to solve the problem.

Hi again.

The problem its a mistery.

Yesterday my workmatte made the secuence Online, and today i was able to make play, and so on. Even when there is no effect rendered.

I have problem with one effectt. The first stream its a freeze frame with color effect,the above stream ist a TGA secuence of 5 frames and then 1 second with another frame. And in the 3rd stream there is a filler with a glow effect. This effect i have used for 6 projects before but it fails till its not rendered.

The message its:END OF FILE REACHED ON FILENAME and its the same message on console. Later when i render it there is no problem to make it play.

Maybe i have to nest it?

I also use this effect over a freezed stream without color effect and it works without render.

Anybody knows what can be the problem? NESTING?

Hello, maybe i can help you.

I have export some animations from AE 6.5 to avid media composer adrenaline 2.1.

Normally i use a TARGA SECUENCE, and the you can choose between alpha, color or color + alpha. If its the last one use 32 bits.

Sometimes i use a quictime movie and it works with the adrenaline, but not so good with the avid xpress dv 3.5. It cames in other colors.

I use 768x 576, and i never had any problems. Maybe the main problme its that it looks like one field only, but i like it most.

You can take vector from illustrator to AE and the use INVIGORATOR 3D (its a 3rd party plugin) to extrude the text or the form you have prevoiously selected or converted to vector.

Its nice cause you can control the 3d camera and also lights and surface properties.

About extrude by the normal way, I have no clue.

You can apply a shadow to the text to simulate something.
