  • THANKS A LOT

We will use combustion 4, After effects 7 and Final Cut.

We already ordered the MACPRO with 2 320gb SATA raid 0 hard drives.

On the shop they will give us everything ready, i mean, the SATA drives in RAID 0.

About the card, i asumme its like PCI cards on win system. Just open, plug, install and ready to go!!!!

Thanks a lot for all the info BOB!!!!

    Have a nice weekend

  • Thanks a lot Rafael!!!!

Finally we have decided for the internal SATA drives. Easy, cheaper, and we will buy another LACIE to move projects between computers.

REALLY THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR INFO….

I trust on my Lacie, but this time i go for the fixed aim!!!!

    THX!!!

  • Thanks a lot to all.

Finally we will go for internal sata drives, and we will make them in RAID probably. I think it should work fine with 8bits uncompressed.

I will run the test for hard drive speed to check how it could work. We were thinking about Lacie cause we can wich them between machines but i saw also hot swap SATA drives in raid.

I agree with all the people in the print to video problem…. am a bit scared cause we dont wanna lose this client.

    THANKS TO ALL!!!!

PS: can i manage by myself to make 2 hard drives in raid???

  • THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION

    1) Thats perfect that we can moutn SATA drives on MAC PRO. 3 Bays could be perfect.

Should i make them in RAID? And how? There is a software?

Sorry I cam from AVID on Windows, everything already done…i have no clue about mac.

    2) I will forget about the Lacie, i also had problem with dv on final cut.

    3) Any info about to calculate the space for Uncompresed 8bits? I think it will be the same digitize trought SDI or COMPONENT.

    Thanks a lot!!!!

  • THX a lot…

Its ok then to use the BMD. Does is will work also with COmbustion, premiereo PRO and After Efeccts?

And between OS windows and MAC?

I think it will be better to mount stripped 2 SATA drives, than carry around 2 Lacie….

Does SATA drives will work on MACPRO, or should i add a controller card?

Sorry but am coming from AVID MCA on Windows, to FCP on MAC, and i had not so much idea about mac hardware and systems….

    THX in advance…

I think so, Greg, but the project will be once per week only 8 hours, for the next 3 months and there is not so much budget for that. Otherwise, they would prefer to make on their facilities but on the weekends…..

    :S

I think the Kona its a great solution!!!

Can i use the AJA card for other aplications such as After effects and Combustion previews?

I would like to use it, not only for this project….

The AJA its only running under MAC right?

Cause dekclink card can be used in both!!!!!!

    THANKS AGAIN!!!!

PD: how can i get another channel in the laptop? Trough PCMCIA CARD? I think on mac there is no pcmia place… :S
