How about doing the pan and scan as normal, creating a matte from the alpha in photoshop, then apply the same pan and scan effect on a layer above but using the new matte, then alt add a matte effect to the layer to create the transparency…I’ve never tried it but it makes sense to me.

    3 layers
v3 matte with npan and scan and an ALt added matte effect
v2 hi rez with pan and scan effect
    V1 bkd

    ok, or after effects…

  • if you have the pan and scan effect then you can import any sized/resolution still directly form the effect editor and resize them to suit. Reply for more info. Otherwise…

the source resolution applies to avid rez, ie 1:1 2:1 etc, the relevant settings are resize, maintain etc etc. Not in front of avid right now, experiment, I believe there are 4 options in total!

    no! don’t need to delete!
select wrongly labelled clips, clip, modify, source and when the reel list comes up either select the correct reel or create a new one then click ok to the 76 patronising messages that follow!

no need to relink, unlink or recapture, its an easy mistake, in fact there are many instances when you may need to change a reel number, assistants being the most common!

alt drag all the clips to a new bin, this leaves your origionals intact, batch digitise the new bin, then if neccessary relink.

Can’t think of an obvious way of keeping audio clips stuck to their corresponding video clips apart from the obvious, ie hilighting both the audio and video tracks. Sync liock may help you here though it can have adverse knock on effects.

To delete a clip why not hit mark clip then lift or scissors. The need to double delete is essential so that you have the option of removing effects/automation etc without deleting the actual clip

    dup fields is correct,
tip. make sure your render setting are set to origional preference or you may spend hours rendering the effect in such a way that defeats the whole object. Carefull though, some broadcasters are getting fussy about dupefields and will reject them.
