    Hi!

I think it is independent of codecs, disks and prgrammes. The DLE just does not output video when it was switched on and off unless you first feed a signal into the SDI input. Switching the host computer on and off does not make a difference. If the DLE stays switched on, it is happy only after disconnecting it from the mains there is no other way to get it to work than an SDI ref. This has been described by other users as well and has been confirmed by our reseller.

For the record: We use 10 bit uncompressed codecs for both SD and HD, a SATA raid as well as FW800 drives.

  • Hi!

We just used framelink to transfer a feature doc (HD 1080 50i) to DPX files for 35mm filmrecording and with such big amounts of data, working with framelink becomes very cumbersome. Mounting the virtually drive takes ages even on our Quad and dragging 150.000 frames from one folder to the next is extremely difficult as the whole finder becomes unresponsive.

Maybe Blackmagic could implement a menue dialogue system where one can specify where the DPX files should be moved to, rather than having to do drag and drop.

Anyway it’s a great little app that really helped us in our workflow!

I got this answer from Kristian:
    ************************************

    Hi Georg,

We’ve mainly gone on to adopting Apple’s Uncompressed 4:2:2 codec for HD and SD. This was requested by Apple as well as for better support with Apple’s RT effects. However, we still use our codec for for 4:4:4 RGB HD video.

If you’re rendering in After Effects, you’ll find that only our BMD codecs are available. We deliberately hide the Apple codec in that application to prevent any gamma issues from cropping up.

    Hi!

Yes, we were prompted to updated and did do the firmware update. As I said, it did help at first, but now it is back to the same problem.

    greetings

    Hi!

We have the same issue, you need to feed a reference signal into the SDI input of the MB extreme before starting it up. This fixed it for us. It is a pain in the neck, the last driver update seemed to fix this problem at first but we have the same issue again.

    Good luck

    Hi!

Same thing happened to us – installed the latest BM driver, suddenly Final Cut would not open HDV timelines – “Codec missing” – reinstalling the HDV codec fixed the problem.

Hi here’s a quote from somebody’s helpful previous post:

    ===================================
FYI, for those who want to keep using their perfectly fine PCI-X and PCI cards, SBS makes a PCIe-to-PCIX expansion chassis. We’ve tested it and it works great.

    Hi!

How long does downconversion take in After Effects? And on which platform?

    Thanks and kind regards
