Jorma Nippala @ “George, it’s just a Magix way of handling these links. But you’re right, their Download Center recognizes my S/N as v 12, but “no downloads available for the selected product.” It seems only Magix-branded versions are available there at the moment.

    Hi Jorma,

When I found that link, I thought perhaps Magix had everything ported over, but following the link and actually doing the download proved it was just the Magix branded version. Also, some of my registered products are still not there.

Good that the Sony link still provides users a route to get their older versions downloaded.

It doesn’t make much difference to me anymore, as with your help previously, I have all my product downloads (and backed up), as well as, all the serial numbers I require.

    Hi Roger,

Good that you have the download you need via Jorma’s link.

The link I provided probably would not have gotten you what you needed, but it is a live URL, if it is copied and pasted in a browser. Apparently I don’t know how to use the COW link function!!

  • Unless there is another reason to change the fps, render as the same as your source. Rendering 23.97 as 60 fps will not improve your video. 60 fps video usually appears smoother for fast motion during playback, but it requires you to record at that same higher fps.

If you are filming fast motion such as racing or sports and your camera has the capability to record at 60 fps, then that type of video will usually look better on YouTube. It has to start in the camera. As you have already filmed at 23.97, then render at that same speed and send it to YouTube.

November 11, 2016 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Problem recording with external microphone

    Hi Juan,

Al’s suggestion to try the LN2MIC-ZMH4N-6 Attenuation cable is a good recommendation if you are going to feed the audio from the H4n to your Nikon, which probably does not have attenuator controls.

I have a Canon camcorder and have no problems with the audio from the H4n or connecting it, or mics to the camera. However, I also have a GH4 which is a bit trickier with both the mic and headset connections. Although they seem to insert fully, more than once I have had to apply a bit more force to get them seated fully. They feel good going in, at a glance they look seated, but sometimes the 3.5mm stereo plug falls a tad short of the required full seat. I haven’t had any problem with the cables working out during a shoot, but occasionally need to return and push them in a bit during the setup. I have the GH4 in a cage, and this makes getting to the connections more of a chore than when they are unobstructed, and of course this could also be part of the issue getting a full seat.

I usually use the H4n for the primary audio recording and it has been satisfactory for my needs, and think it does a good job for the price. I’m not an audio tech, nor do I record performances, and usually I pipe the audio out of the Zoom to either an Atomos Samurai Blade or Ninja Flame, thereby having the recording in the Zoom, in the Atomos and sometimes in the camera from the camera built in mic.

Did you reset Vegas? WIth previous versions, on the desktop icon Hold down Ctrl+Shift, double click the Vegas icon. It’s important to check, delete cached data, then Yes to reset. This will set Vegas back to default install values.

November 7, 2016 at 8:17 pm in reply to: Youtube has changed?

    Hi Dave,

I have no explanation why this doesn’t work in Magix v14, but I do know it was common for it not to work well for some in previous Sony versions. Some, like yourself, never had a problem, others like myself, it never did work!

Also, I found out that I got better render quality control by using other render templates or methods, such as, the Vegas2Handbrake script process, and then manually uploading to YouTube, as to the automatic process offer in Movie Studio and Vegas.

It was my understanding that YouTube continues to change the method and procedures for their uploads and Sony did not keep up with the changes. I don’t know this to be fact, just what I have read on various forum threads. There have been many complaints about it.

November 7, 2016 at 8:07 pm in reply to: Why is Rendered Image Squeezed in Sony Vegas 13?

dave croonprince @ “The video is mp4, 1080 shot on a Panasonic HC x1000. In the editing I had applied some pan/crop to certain clips but this has never affected the render in other projects. They had the same media and settings but they weren’t squeezed with the render. Last night I just dragged the edited project file into a new time line in Sony Vegas and tried rendering it that way – and it worked ok. No squeezed image. So – not sure how, but it worked.

    Hi Dave,

In the past I had a project that was doing odd things. I open the project, selected everything in the project, then Ctrl+C to copy all the tracks and events. Then I started another occurrence of Vegas Pro, then Ctrl+V to paste, then saved it with a different project name and everything worked fine and I had my original editing back.

Maybe that is what you did with your post above.

November 6, 2016 at 5:48 pm in reply to: How can I render video clips with sony vegas pro 14?

    Hi Ercan,

I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 13, so this might be different than version 14……

Click on ‘Tools’. From the drop down menu click on “Scripting’. From the pop-up menu select ‘BatchRender +Events’. This will pop-up a window your can configure your batch renders. The options are, the folder where you want the renders to go, the prefix name of the renders, the render template you want to use for rendering, options for render project, render selection, or render events, and the suffix incremental number for each event rendered.

There are other batch render scripts available in public domain which may fit your needs better, but I’m not sure which will work with your version of Vegas Pro.

I use these three scripts when I batch render several clips/event to an intermediate file, which are variations of the ‘BatchRender +Events’ script (NOTE: I used these in Magix Vegas Pro 14 trial version, but needed to edit the script with a text editor to change out the namespace)……

    – ‘RegionsAtEvents’, which marks each event as a ‘Region’ and give that region the same name as the event clip.
    – ‘Batch Render – Regions’, which brings up a window like the ‘BatchRender +Event’ scripts.
    – ‘RemoveAllMarkerRegions’, which simply removes the regions created by the ‘RegionsAtEvents’ scripts and cleans up the timeline.

    Hope this helps……

    Hi Erik,

Are using the ‘Normal Edit Tool’ when you are doing this?

Do you usually have ‘Auto Ripple’ On or Off?

    Best Regards…..George
