I was thinking it was something like this, just wasn’t thinking that straight. It’s often the simple things that trip us up. Looking back at his video, now after you pointed this out, I simulated his gimbal frame connection and get the same results.

I’m curious, not that it will help, but……

Does your recording include the brief black out as the preview screen?

Also, if you take your camera off your gimbal, does the screen black out when you replicate the movement handheld?

I have no idea why. But as you suspect, it’s not normal. I can confirm, no matter how fast or slow, or the angle up or down, swinging, or any other movements, my GH4 continues to record as would be expected.

I guess one good thing, is the condition is repeatable. I would think once Panasonic support viewed you video, they would determine the camera needs service. Good Luck with it and hope you come back and post the solution results.

Also, if you don’t want the few extras, B&H has the Vegas Pro 13 Edit upgrade for $154.95 USD.

As Aleksey posted, the current price for Magix Vegas Pro 14 is $249, Magix Vegas Pro 14 Edit $199, and Magix Vegas Pro 14 Suite is $349. They list it as an ‘upgrade’, but there are many who feel for what is included, these packages are over priced. I feel the same way and have decided not to purchase from Magix. However, there are others who feel it is worth the cost. Magix first introduced this deal, late in September, expiring October 16th. Then they extended the deal to October 31st. It appears now they have again extended this deal to November 18th.

Having time before this deal expires, you may want to consider downloading the free trial version and trying it out. There are some improved features, some bug fixes over v13, some new bugs introduced with v14, and it is missing some features that many Vegas users thought would be included, such as better GPU support, which seem to still be missing.

I purchased Sony Vegas Pro 13 full version (not a upgrade) in December of 2015 for $192 USD. Then Magix offered me this supposedly upgrade for $249 to v14! Just doesn’t sound like a very good deal consider there are very few improvements over v13 for me. But, as I also mentioned, other users feel it is worth the price and are hoping Magix will issue updates to fix additional bugs and perhaps improve the features they seek. I tried the trial version and decided not to purchase. You may try trial version and be completely satisfied. Good luck on your decision.

Hi David,

If you switch your Ninja Flame to record stereo, those L/R stereo channels should appear in Vegas v14. If you have a future purpose for the 4 channel capability of the Ninja Flame, then you will need to go back to v12, but I don’t think you can get 4 channel audio from the A7S, or am I mistaken?

Of course the native ProRes doesn’t include DNx, which still requires the 32 bit Quicktime. And, like John, I am skeptical of the Magix v14 native ProRes. It seems to work, but my trial v14 run out before I could test it further.

I’m still learning Resolve 12.5.2, but during two months of learning, I have had zero issues, no crashes, no hangups, it runs smooth and predictable. I’m runnng Windows 7 64 bit.

Sounds like you may have found the culprit. I have read many problems with New Blue and Vegas 14. Good luck and hope you will update here if you gain a solution.
