I understand better now what your issue is. I cannot duplicate it in MVP15 or SVP13 for Color Correction or Color Curves. Mine are working as normal with or without GPU support.

Click on the split screen icon above the preview window (not the drop down menu, just the icon). This will toggle fx in the preview window on/off.

Hi Kevin,

Does your Sony camera record HD 1920×1080 (x1.0) or HDV 1440×1080 (x1.33333)? Not that it makes any difference for your issue, again just curious.

If I’m not mistaken DVDA will re-render an mp4, which will just make a bigger mess of your production, so I would stick with MPEG2 and use a bitrate calculator to get it all to fit.

What program are you using to author the disc? If it is DVDA, you may want to try MPEG2 max 27,000,000, avg 23,000,000, min 18,000,000 bitrates, which may squeeze you through.

BTW, I’m just curious, “So, I’ve edited a 3 hour video (HD footage shot on Mini DV Sony cam)“, how did you get HD from a Mini DV?

Hi Johnny, it sounds like you are doing a ‘loop region’ render, is that correct?

I am using Windows 7 and cannot help with your OS, as I have no experience with it. You might want to fall back a couple of driver versions (or at least one) of your Nvidia card. When I was using an older Nvidia card the updates started to cause issues, so I went back to the previous version I stopped updating them. Although this just doesn’t sound like a GPU issue to me.

Maybe you are at the point of needing the make a clean uninstall and then clean install of your v13. Hopefully someone else here will have a suggestion.

What OS are you using?

Have you had any recent updates to the OS or GPU?

Have you disabled the GPU?

Have you tried a program reset and deleted the cached application data?

If on Win7, when it locks up, have you tried, Shift+Alt+Del, click on Start Task Manager, when the Task Manager window appears close it. This may unlock the program.

Hi Gilles,

A 60 minute 1080p video in Vegas Pro 13, rendered to 720p29.970fps using the MainConcept AVC template VBR 16,000,000 max 8,000,000 avg, single pass yielded a 4.1 gig file. The size is going to vary dependent on the content both video and audio, as well as, the codec used.

I agree with Mike, using Handbrake is going to provide a better quality, smaller file size and faster render times.

If you are not familiar with FrameServing, you may want to do a search on Vegas2Handbrake. Full instructions are available on the net and everything you need is free to download and setup. Once you have installed the file and the script setup, it will send your project from Vegas to Handbrake via FrameServing using only a couple mouse clicks, and Handbrake will do the rendering for you.

Also a Google search will provide several file size calculators for mp4 files, all of which that I have tried were way off!!

Hi Jack,

You may want to do a program reset. From the desktop, hold down Shift+Ctrl keys and double left click on the program icon. Before clicking ‘Yes’, be sure to check ‘Delete all cached application data.’ That will set your program back to installation defaults and delete any application data which may have built up and may have gotten the program confused after while.

Is .mp4 file, constant, bit rate 36,000,000, the minimum or does it have to be exact. If constant/36,000,000 is the minimum you could submit constant at 50,000,000. Just a thought!
