I do not recommend anyone update to the Magix VP13 builds. As you state, they are only name space changes and cause problems with script files, as well as, maybe some add-ons. I was just asking for clarification.

I cannot explain the technical details. What I understand is, VP saves a lot of data as cache for the application of a project. From time to time, this cached data can become corrupted or confusing to VP. Deleting the cached application data and resetting VP simply sets everything in VP back to the installation default settings and flushes out all the saved stuff which may be causing a conflict. I think this would imply, it is possible for VP to get corrupted/confused by the data it saves to make the program more efficient, which at times, can do exactly the opposite and make the program worthless or at least present problems. Is that a stability issue within VP code, I think so. Nonetheless, this reset and deleting the cached application data is the first place I usually turn to when Vegas starts to get messed up. It’s a bit of a pain, but gets me back on track, and fortunately for me, I’ve only had to do this twice.

Hi Erik,

Are you on the latest Sony Vegas Pro 13 build (453), or have you updated that to the Magix Vegas Pro 13? Have you done a Reset of Vegas Pro 13? A reinstall will not flush out any problems in the application cache that Vegas pro 13 may have, only a reset checking the box to delete appplication cache will do that. If you have updated the GPU driver since Vegas Pro 13 was running well, you may want to consider rolling the driver back to a previous update.

Whenever I have a preview or render that stops at the same point, I remove the event at that point and test the rest of the project. It sometimes is a bad clip.

Turn the top dial to ‘M’ (Motion Picture). Bring up the ‘Menu’. Select ‘Motion Picture’ menu. Go to menu 1/7. Select ‘Exposure Mode’. Select ‘M’ (manual). Exit the menu. At the bottom on the screen display you should now have a display of the f stop and next to it the shutter speed. With the back rotator, you can change the shutter speed. With the top rotator you can adjust the f stop.

On the top dial where you select ‘M’ (Motion Picture), the other ‘P’, ‘A’, ‘S’, and ‘M’ are for stills.

When you select the ‘Exposure Mode’ from the ‘Motion Picture’ menu, selecting ‘P’ will give you automatic exposure, therefore there is no f stop or shutter speed displayed. Selecting ‘A’ is aperture priority and only the f stop will display. When you change this, the shutter speed will automatically change to keep the proper exposure, so you are still getting an auto exposure mode, just having the flexibility to select the f stop, perhaps to increase or decrease DOF. Select ‘S’ puts you in shutter priority mode and will only display the shutter speed. Like ‘A’, this is also auto exposure mode, which allows you to select the desired shutter, to perhaps stop fast action, but compensate by adjusting the f stop in the background. Only ‘M’ manual mode will provide the flexibility to independently set the f stop and shutter speed and change the exposure as you like.

John has the best suggestion, try Magix Vegas Pro 14 trial. It should work. It recognized my ProRes HQ files no problem. If you don’t want to upgrade, I’m running the 7.77 version of Quicktime with little problems within Sony Vegas Pro 13. The specific version shows as 7.77 (1680.95.51) and from within Windows 7 Control Panel Programs it shows version 7.77.80.95. This runs fine on my Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) machine with the exception of loading too many files. For some this is reported as few as 15-20, for others as high as 100. I can usually get 80+ before things start to go south. I guess it has a lot to do with the VP build, windows machine and OS, etc, etc. BTW, my ProRes files come from an Atomos Samurai Blade and Atomos Ninja Flame. You didn’t mention the source of your files.

By the way any Quicktime version for windows is going to be 32 bit.

Hi Jim,

Try this, go to ‘File’ > ‘New’, select ‘Menu Based’ or ‘Single Movie’, then in ‘Disc Format’ select ‘Blu-Ray Disc’. Check the remaining options and click on ‘OK’.

Hi William,

On the heals of Aaron’s suggestion, you may be able to just rename your CineForm HD file extension from *.mov to *.avi. It worked for me in reverse with Vegas Pro 13. I use CineForm HD in an avi wrapper a lot, so I took one and simply renamed the extension to *.mov and it loads and play fine. But I don’t know for sure if this simple renaming the extension from mov to avi will work for you, may be worth a quick and dirty try.

My Epson 1430 doesn’t leave any marks, the printing is flawless. However, I have probably only printed about 200 disc on it, so have no idea what the life of the printer is for printing disc. I have printed quite a bit of large prints, but haven’t kept a count! So, take my experience with a grain of salt.

I would rate the speed as slow, but I haven’t used any other printer to compare it to. The printing speed itself doesn’t seem to bad, but it does take it’s time registering the disc alignment. I’m using the Epson software that came with the printer. I don’t really print very many disc (most videos go on a thumb drive), but when I do it is relatively flawless.

Hi Jim,

I use an Epson Artisan 1430 with Epson ink. It works pretty well, never had any problems. However, if your primary need is to print DVD’s and have no use for paper/prints larger than 8.5×11, there are other Epsons in that size with the same DVD print capability. I use the 1430 for prints as large as 13×19, so it works for me.
